Currently listening to this one. Not sure how I am feeling about it. I like it but the guy narrator sounds weird. Should sound more manly by the way he is described.

P.S. I am rocking #StartingFromScratch and #BadAss2023. On my 32nd book of the year. If this was last year, I would have been on my 6th book. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ShyBookOwl A bad voice choice can ruin an audiobook 1y
AkashaVampie @ShyBookOwl yeah i know. its not bad bad, but just awkward. I still stick it out cuz i wanna know how it ends. 1y

So.. I meant to post this sometime yesterday, but didn't get to it. This is one of the main ways I will be tracking and planning my reads for the year. I decided on participating in #BookSpin to help make it more enjoyable. Along with that I still have #NWC and #PLC monthly reads. With that, my goal for each month will be at least 4 books read. On January's agenda, I have 5. I am currently trying to get done with Witch Please before I can go on ⬇️

AkashaVampie to BookSpin and my book groups picks. I am color coding and tracking to see what days I read and what I don't. This will be an interesting year with me doing #StartingFromScratch and it being the year of Badassdom ( #BadAss or #BadAss2023 ).

TheAromaofBooks Nice!! This year @Clwojick inspired me to use one of the “pixel“ mood trackers, except to track pages. I'm interested to see how it develops!! 2y
AkashaVampie @TheAromaofBooks thanks. I'd love to see urs! 2y
ElizaMarie I enjoyed One of Us is Lying. Think it's right up your alley. Also, it could count as a #NWC they had a show adaptation (I think Peacock) that was pretty entertaining. 2y

Hey Littens. Welcome to the New Year. I have a question for u all. Do you do some kind of game with ur TBRs? If so, what do you play? With me, trying to do #StartingFromScratch this year.... I need a fun way to get through the year. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You!!!!!!!

Zoes_Human Have you tried #bookspinbingo hosted by @TheAromaofBooks? 2y
AkashaVampie @Zoes_Human no i haven't. I have no idea how to play. 2y
Zoes_Human @AkashaVampie It's pretty easy with casual rules and allows for you to engage with it at different levels. I started around a year and half ago, and I love it. I'll go find her most recent post with how it works and tag you there. 2y

Zoes_Human @AkashaVampie Okay, I think I did that right. LMK if you don't get a tag notification and I'll try sharing a direct link as a comment. 2y
JackOBotts I second the #bookspin fun and also @PuddleJumper hosts a #roll100 challenge (I‘ll tag you there)…essentially, you make a list of 100 of your TBR‘s and @PuddleJumper rolls their 20 sided die for 3 numbers bw 1 & 100 each month. I try to read one roll each month (edited) 2y
TheAromaofBooks If you're interested in joining #BookSpin I have a master post about it on my blog here - https://thearomaofbooks.wordpress.com/bookspin-bookspinbingo-litsy-challenge/ - but basically you just need your list of 20 books!! I'll be drawing the January numbers tomorrow, so just let me know if you want to play along, or if you have any questions!! Thanks for sending @AkashaVampie my way @Zoes_Human !!! 2y
AkashaVampie @Zoes_Human @JackOBotts thanks guys. I will have to take a look. Hoping to figure something out by the end of the night. 2y
AkashaVampie @TheAromaofBooks thanks hun. I will do my best to get my list done tonight. 2y
Meshell1313 I‘m currently playing #TBRtarot with @CBee . I find it nice and easy to read 1 book from my TBR pile each month. It‘s been super fun! 2y
Zoes_Human @JackOBotts Oooo that‘s cool! 2y
CBee @Meshell1313 so glad you‘re enjoying it! @AkashaVampie I also recommend #BookSpin - I don‘t try for bingo but I‘ve managed to read both “spin” picks each month since I started doing it again. Two books off the TBR each month, yay! (edited) 2y
AkashaVampie @Meshell1313 @CBee thanks. I think I will try #BookSpin 🤞🤞🤞 Hopefully I will be able to stick with it. 2y
Jadams89 I think @Clwojick gets credit for this one….use a deck of cards and 52 book titles. Draw a card and that‘s your next read 2y
Meshell1313 @Jadams1776 ooh that is soo smart!!! So simple; I‘m def going to do that! 2y
Blerdgal_Fenix I like getting my D&D dice and assign a number to the books and let fate take the wheel. I did 18 books and 2 slots are for I can only spin 6 or I can only spin a 12 count dice 2y
ElizaMarie @AkashaVampie #Bookspin works well for me. I put books I own on my list … then the “free” spaces can allow for impulse buys but this way it takes the guess work out of “what to read on my shelf next” 2y
SconsinBookyBadger @Clwojick is the host for #pantone2023 if you‘re interested in matching book cover to a color chart. 2y

Hey Littens. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday. Quick question.... when u review books, how/what do u for like notes? I want to start keeping a book (notion) for everything I read. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank u & love u all.

#StartingFromScratch

dabbe I have a lined journal where I devote one page to each book I read. On that page I record my favorite quotes; usually around 5-6 quotes per novel. If I feel like it, I'll sketch in it as well, usually drawing something that goes along with the quotes. I have kept up with this for years, and I LOVE going back and reading them. It's amazing how much I remember about the book when I read just the quotes; it encapsulates the entire novel for me. 😊 2y
AkashaVampie @dabbe I love that... I would just have to figure out how to do that when I mostly do audio. Haha 2y
dabbe @AkashaVampie I'd suggest keeping a notebook on the seat next to you so you could quickly jot it down, but if you're listening in your car, well, then, I'd be suggesting something too dangerous. 😂 2y

AkashaVampie @dabbe haha I do sometimes listen in the car. I might have to just keep a note in my head what chapter I'm on when I hear it. 2y
Zuhkeeyah I have two methods: a digital reading journal and StoryGraph. In storygraph you can leave a note as you progress through a book. My digital reading journal is easy for me to make notes on the fly since I usually read on my iPad. 2y
TheAromaofBooks I have been using these reading journals (there are several cover styles) for a couple of years now and love them https://www.amazon.com/dp/1695289064?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details - they are really inexpensive ~$5 - and are set up for one book per page, with space for 100 books. I label mine by volume, so every book I read now automatically ends up with a number (like 5.26 for vol. 5, book 26), which helps me when I am tracking books ⬇ 2y
TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) for challenges and such. I don't know why, but the simple layout has really helped me!! 2y

Since I will be #StartingFromScratch next year, I need authors to look up for books to add to my GoodReads, so I can have it on Notion. I mostly love Paranormal Romance but I am kinda open for anything except nonfiction. I read to get away from life!

Thanks in advance.

P.S. Anyone is welcome to jump on the train to starting from scratch with me.

swishandflick I don't read a ton of paranormal romance these days, but one of my favorite romance authors to recommend is Tessa Dare (historical romance that has more of a modern tone than most historical romance). Same with Julia Quinn (who wrote the Bridgerton books). 2y
swishandflick If you're open to gritty crime fiction, Karin Slaughter, Michael Connelly, and Tana French! (edited) 2y
AkashaVampie @swishandflick thanks sweetie. I don't think I've read any of those authors. 2y
LiseWorks You have to read John Connelly, Charlie Parker series. I love this series, he uses words i have never seen before lol when you finish one of his books you think the other authors are written for high-school level. 2y
AkashaVampie @LiseWorks thank u sweetie. I will have to check him out. 2y
