Is it still Monday?

I lose track of days since they mostly mean little to me. I get up. I try to finish ARCs. I try not to eat. I try to drink Pedialyte & eat disgusting green/sweet baby food pouches to eat more greens. Take numerous medications on schedule. That‘s my life.

I use to hoard rosaries. Or *collect* rosaries. I‘ve no idea where they‘ve gone. I would assume I brought them from Iowa, somewhere. Once you stop praying with them, ? ⏬

Soscha I do sometimes miss perpetual adoration which if you know that that is 👼🏻🪽 1w
Soscha Not many parishes offer it so it‘s hard to find. I‘m nominally Catholic at best. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 1w
willaful It sounds really rough. I'm glad you're doing your best to take care of yourself even though it sucks. ❤ 7d

Um, I‘m not really sure about this one. Just when I would think “I expected more funny(based on the synopsis)” it would then be a bit more comical. When I thought “I thought this was a queer story too” it would add a slight bit of queerness…. And then the ending solidified that this is really based on a true story, with liberties, but I still felt fairly detached. Fully admit that could be me right now though.

Books were their drugs, the magic carpets onto which they flung themselves in order to be borne away somewhere else, books lifted them up like powerful caressing hands and cradled them like mothers do, as though they were babies to be held and fed, they fell asleep, sated with reading, then woke again, into pages of words, unknown, beckoning, a new world, and started another book.

Back during Covid, my son colour blocked all my tbr books (that would fit on the one set of shelves I had for them). This morning, I thought I would reorganize them alphabetically and integrate the books in my bedroom because, frankly, it‘s impossible to find anything. In doing so, I discovered….I need more shelves. 😂🤣🤪

SpeculativeFemale I feel your pain on this. I'm thinking about attempting to make risers to try double stacking some of my deeper shelves to see if that helps. 1mo
Deblovestoread The struggle is real. I have no more space for shelves and the double stacking is beginning. Good luck! (edited) 1mo

dabbe I think your brother needs to build you some more shelves ... you could have them throughout your whole house! 💛🤎🧡 1mo

DrSabrinaMoldenReads I am over the top but I put my nonfiction in Dewey Decimal order, fiction alphabetical. I did work stacking books in a huge college library for several years though…loved that job! 1mo

It is a great book for many reasons, raw perspectives throughout, but is a great way to start to understand atheism. St Augustine‘s Confessions lays bare the complete inadequacy of religion to answer the great questions of life – which are really no different now than they were when he was grappling with them.

The first half is Merton. The second is Pius XII. I found the first part both more readable and more valuable. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Recent acquisition for our personal library.

I casually collect interesting Penguin Classics and you're looking at a handful of the first PCs, the 'L series'. Some are American editions with price in $ and some are British with price in £. They sit on my desk at the standalone mid-size public library where I have worked for 17 years and where I am the librarian over adult nonfiction, local history, and reference.

Random book from our personal library.

Read in 2005. ★★★★★

We visited Bede's tomb in Durham Cathedral in Oct 2016 and it was a very moving experience. I lit a candle in memory of the patron saint of historians. As I respectfully explored the Gallilee Chapel, I looked up and saw the original painting from the cover of this book high up on a wall, slightly hidden from the casual tourist. It was so wonderful and unexpected that I almost fell over.

SamAnne What a lovely story. 3mo

First op shop visit yesterday. I was heading to Cardiff to visit Dance Boutique for the required theatrical pink tights so I‘m allowed to dance in the Sydney Eisteddfod this weekend! It‘s near 3 op shops so of course I took advantage of that.
