YouReadMyEyes @GarthRanzz Thank you! I am completely amazed by the amount of stories/novels King has written. I‘m reading parts of the tagged book (trying to avoid spoilers) and just read about how King came up with the idea for The Shining. It‘s fascinating. (edited) 7y

GarthRanzz There is one short story collection of his you need to read. It‘s Night Shift. It has short stories that became The Stand (Night Surf) and ‘Salem‘s Lot (Jerusalem‘s Lot). I read my copy so many times as a teen I had to buy a new one. 7y

Okay, I‘m jumping in and joining the #LosersClub 🙃

#StephenKing I blame you (or #IblameLitsy ) for the fact that I‘m still awake and starting a new book at 10:45pm, after having just finished The Shining. I normally go to bed by 9pm (yes, I‘m a 34 year old grandma).

I‘m geeking out about how much I loved The Shining. As a lifelong horror movie fan, how have I not read any early #SK horror novels until now???#betterlatethannever #needsleep

GarthRanzz Glad you are joining! My one, always recommended, book of King‘s is The Stand. It is my favourite book of all time. And you picked up the best copy at the sale. You got the unedited, unabridged edition. Just don‘t let the size scare you. The story just flows. 7y

GarthRanzz I‘ve read it more times than I can remember. More than a dozen. But I‘m excited to read it again with the group. One of the things I love about Litsy is meeting all the King fans. In real life I‘ve not met many. Here I can geek out on King and not feel (too) foolish. 😊 7y

hufflepuff-ish This was the second King novel that I read and how I fell in love with it !!!!! 👻👻👻 The fact that there's more to horror than just a dead person is what I love about King. He always plays on the inner-fear and real-life demons in a human's mind 7y

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It took me a handful of chapters to get into it. At first I kept comparing it to the movie and my mind was having a hard time getting past that. Once I let go of the “movie version” and embraced the book, my reading experience vastly improved.

The movie is excellent but the book is fantastic. Couldn‘t put it down. Bone chilling and riveting. Slowly terrifying. I need to read more King. Immediately.

CaitlinR This is one of the few of his I haven‘t read, maybe because I saw the movie first and wasn‘t wild about it. Count me in as a King fan. I love his books. 7y

FantasyChick It's an amazing story and I love the history of it @GarthRanzz! I grew up with the legend of the curse (hell we even learned about it in school, lol) and it still facinates me. We are actually taking a tour of the sites this summer and I can't wait! 😊 7y

“Books are a uniquely portable magic.” This is a well-known #SK quote, but it‘s just so perfect that it‘s from this book. 💚

This is a flawless mix of personal stories and writing advice/instruction. I first read it in print a few years ago and loved it but there‘s something about listening to Mr. King read this himself. Highly recommend!
