Day2 #80sParty It‘s all about the music 🎵 🤘🏼🖤No way is this list even close to my favorites...there is wayyyyyy too many songs to post. **I hate to be a party pooper but I do do want to highlight LIVE AID & recall that the 80s did see the arrival of a terrible worldwide crisis. I dedicate my mixtape to everyone who suffered, lost a friend/loved one or had to endure the homophobia that crept into the 80s. #HELLoWeen #RyanWhite #Pedro

BarbaraBB Today will be perfect. These playlists bring back so many memories!! For me personally only good ones, even Live Aid. I remember that my sister and me were allowed to put our beds in front of the tv and to stay up and watch all night. Of course we fell asleep and missed most of it 😴😉 6y

Cinfhen My husband lost an uncle to AIDS and I remember how shitty he was treated when we would go out to “nice” restaurants...although that was probably in the very early 90s when the illness really presented and magnified. So while I really LOVED the 80s and my memories are really mostly positive and did think about those who suffered. And Live Aid was such a massive event....can u see all those artists who participated?!!?! Amazing @BarbaraBB 6y

CarolynM The AIDS crisis was the dark underbelly of the fabulous frivolous 80's. It was shameful the way gay men were stigmatised and the fact it took private fund raising to get proper research happening. Many people today don't realise or have forgotten. (edited) 6y

TrishB Great post. When my son came out I thought a lot about the 80s and the stigma of being gay and AIDS etc and was relieved that we have moved on. It truly was a dreadful time, even remembering the govt adverts in the UK 😔 6y

TrishB Love the playlist - I Ran 12inch single (you all remember 12 inches that went on forever!?) was one of the best intros ever , they were from Liverpool too 😁 Hubby was lucky enough to go to Live Aid at Wembley. 6y

Cinfhen We as a society still have a long way to go but Thank God that this generation doesn‘t have to endure what those poor innocent men,women & children had to in the 80s @TrishB it truly was a dark time and a crisis we‘ve forgotten @CarolynM @LeahBergen 💔 6y

Elizabeth2 My uncle died from AIDS in 1990. Such an awful illness. He was sick for so long, and my cousins were too young to have a dad so sick and dying (they were 16 & 19 when he died). I‘m glad science, medicine and social awareness have come so far and changed things for people today. ❤️ 6y

Chrissyreadit @Cinfhen I‘m glad you posted LiveAid! The first child I worked with who was dying died from AIDS. Standing next to her in “required” full gown and mask is still a heartbreaking memory. I was there to play in The Child Life Dept, not scare her last few weeks. Both her parents died from AIDS too. 6y
