Secret shame: I've only read The Hobbit. I've had this collection since I was 13 and they're much older than that even, having once belonged to my dad. Maybe one day I'll get through Fellowship, but my god the singing 😑

Bkwrm7 I have been halfway through The Two Towers for.....about 10 years now? So I feel you on this! At this point I feel like I would need to start the whole trilogy over to remember what's going on. Maybe someday, but there's so many other books out there.... 7y

CatLass007 I recommend the audiobooks. The narrator is wonderful and he brings these books alive! Even the singing. 7y
elizabethlk I lovelovelove the Hobbit, but I read all three LOTR books as a kid, and just didn't enjoy them the same way (despite loving the movies). Planning on doing a re-read since it has been a long time, but they're really different from the Hobbit in some ways. 7y

emtobiasz Seconding the audiobooks-- listening to them on road trips was how my boyfriend and I finally finished Fellowship! Course, we never did finish books 2 and 3, so.... 7y
