This beautiful Poetry book written by Emily Winfield Martin, will leave you dying to present it to a classroom!! This adorable picture book tells the beautiful story of what ever mom, dad, grandma, grandpa, and teacher thinks of students; what will you be? #ucflae3414su20

ashleyshugars This adorable story would best serve as a RA. In conjunction with UDL strategy 7.2, this story has a lot of relevance to our every day lives and thoughts. ESOL strategy 3 can be used here to encourage students to talk about what THEY might be! Try this website for a few resources in the classroom https://www.teachingbooks.net/tb.cgi?tid=44714 4y

The Water Dancer: A Novel | Ta-Nehisi Coates

4/5
Poetic and fluid, Coates' prose is beautiful. And its beauty is especially pronounced when describing the horrific and devastating effects of slavery. Through Hiram Walker, we see the cruel reality of families being separated and how they survived in the most abominable circumstances - through grit and dissociation. And possibly it is because of the dissociation that the MC felt distant. There were parts that felt slow, but still beautiful.

The Wonderful Things You Will Be is RF and won the Gelett Burgess Children's Book award, written by Emily Winfield Martin. Such a sweet story, I love this book! Good for RA and it provides students with the inspiration to talk about what and who they want to be when they grow up. https://www.kidscreativechaos.com/2016/01/the-wonderful-things-you-will-be-book.... provides activities like dressing up, planting, baking, etc. #UCFLAE3414SP20

There There: A novel | Tommy Orange

Pickpick

Oooof.

Not sure I‘m up for writing a coherent review, but yes, I will be reading whatever Tommy Orange writes next. I love his writing, his big-picture histories, and his characters, his ability to make us care about each of them in the space of a short-story.

The chaos of the end- so stressful, so well done, but I‘m glad he didn‘t tie things up too tidily. Connected, messy lives- still connected, still messy, maybe different.

Still. Ooof.

squirrelbrain I loved this one too! ❤️ 5y
rockpools @squirrelbrain Somehow I didn‘t expect that ending, even though it had been building up to it from the start. 5y
