These little people, quite recovered from their fatigue, had set about gathering checkerberries, and now came clambering to meet their playfellows.
Thus reunited, the whole party went down through Luther Butler‘s orchard, and made the best of their way home to Tanglewood.

Mercy of the Tide | Keith Rosson

Pickpick

After reading some of Rossons‘s current work, I found that The Mercy of the Tide was atmospheric, impactful, and beautifully haunting. Imagine how sorrow and loss becomes a vortex of grief. And yet, the sudden tragedy is just a warning for a larger catastrophe. There is a string of connection with characters, though all are individuals. A short, but terrific, read.

The picture doesn‘t do the holographic cover justice; it‘s so pretty 😍

I got this book from the wonderful @wanderinglynn when she had her #49bdaygiveaway! I am one of three lucky winners to get some #bookmail!!!

I can‘t wait to read it! 📕

wanderinglynn Wow, that arrived fast! So glad! ☺️ 1d

Did I cry? Yes. Did I love it? Also yes! I finished this book yesterday, and it was AMAZING! Here‘s my fill out of wanderinglynn‘s Off My Shelf. I‘ll be using this for any book I read this year that matches one of these. The three books I have so far are The House of Hades and The Blood of Olympus by Rick Riordan and Escaping Peril: The Graphic Novel by Tui T. Sutherland. I apologize for the tilted picture.

This was a refreshingly different read, even amongst other books in verse I've read. You can tell the author gave a lot of thought into constructing the verses written, giving each character a unique structure, while still maintaining an air of humor, lightheartedness, and modern language. ⬇️

Nelnjali And this is no sugar-coated view of the myths, most of the characters are assholes, the story of Asterion is tragic, and happy endings are not in sight, which makes this an accurate depiction of the myth and a fun intro into Greek mythology. 1d

The recipe is ALWAYS wrong when it comes to garlic imho 😄

CaseyTheCanadianLesbrarian I don't trust any recipe that calls for only one clove of garlic! 1d

Repost for @Daisey

#FellowshipOfTolkien Readers, here‘s our plan for The Fall of Arthur! I would like to finish reading it in February, but I also think this book may require some slow, close reading. Remember our schedule is always a very loose guideline and feel free to post your thoughts at any time. I hope to make time to post each weekend if not during the week.

Werewolves?! OK, so I ended up going down a rabbit hole about this. They were actually wolves that contained evil spirits/demons and they did Sauron's bidding. There was no shape-shifting to or from a human. And apparently, it didn't register when I read the Lord of the Rings when Gandalf mentioned them. I'm finding this book really interesting and wish I'd read it sooner.

Pickpick

Started this on audiobook last month, then realized I was missing out on illustrations and artwork. I put the hard copy on hold at my library not knowing it was the second, expanded edition. It features the inclusion of an all new extra section entitled: Yokai Gallery, with even more artwork!

Either edition is awesome, and Foster‘s determination to shine a scholarly light on a subject that could be written off as pop culture is admirable.
