Took: A Ghost Story | Mary Downing Hahn
post image
Pickpick

I read Mary Downing Hahn as a kid and when this came up on Libby for ghost stories, I was in!! A young family moves to rural Virginia where there is a legend that an old witch takes little girls every 50 years. Daniel‘s young sister starts to act weird and then disappears? Did the crazy witch in the woods get her? Even though this is a kids book, I still enjoyed it and would love to go back and read more of Hahn‘s older books.

It's Ren Faire season here so I'm listening to my bard pregame playlist constantly. I'm working the faire for the next 5ish weeks so my posts will be pretty sporadic. 🎶 🎵

The Wizard's Butler | Nathan Lowell

Audiobook read by Tom Taylorson who did a superb job.

What a fun book! A cozy fantasy I actually really enjoyed. A former military man, and trained EMT is in search of a job. An elderly wizard needs a butler. A match made in, well, somewhere.

Cinderhazel: The Cinderella of Halloween | Deborah Nourse Lattimore

After finishing the Cruella puzzle, my son and I started a Cinderella one. I couldn‘t help but think about how Cinderella has so many Halloween elements in it. There is evil, magic, a pumpkin, a black cat, and dressing up. Come on! So I took to Google wondering if anyone else thought this and came across this book which is kind of a witchy retelling of Cinderella with dirt. Fits the animal cover prompt and also completes my Goodreads goal 🎉⬇️

The Ward Witch | Sarah Painter

Finished this one yesterday. This one is set on a witchy island that has a ward that makes any visitors need to leave after 2 days except for Luke. It seems the island wants him there. A murder happens, so they need to figure out who did it because everyone suspects Luke.

This trilogy was exactly the cozy fantasy I wanted. Yes, stakes were higher in these 2 than the first one but the world building inside world building was good. And the characters were well built. I honestly wouldn't be mad if this series continued 😉

OK, after 5 long weeks of Ren Faire shenanigans, I am going to finally catch up on my missed book updates and challenges. But first....Here are my Ren faire looks. Garden Gnome, Pirate, Belle, Ursula, Elf Rogue and Faun.

Second book in the Crow Investigations series.

Cosy(?) #UrbanFantasy

I like the series, but it's more "casual listening". It's interesting, yet doesn't require all of my attention.

First four or five books in the series are free with Audible subscription.

What the hecking heck. I need a hug. And some tissues. And Brand, though that is for a very different reason….
