This has been sitting on my shelf for a while now, it seemed like a good time to read it. Motherhood is the major theme here, and the story explores it from many directions. What makes a mother, can she ever be a mother no longer, what impact does a mother's actions (or lack of action) have on her child. At a broader level it's about family, community, love and friendship. It's an excellent novel.

CarolynM @Ruthiella I found it really moving. I so wanted Nadia and Aubrey to get help to deal with their experiences. They felt so real to me that it was painful to see them suffering as they did. 5y

I was starting to think I would never get a #ReadYourSign book done! But, here we are: a book with fire in the title and a main character who is VERY strong willed for #Sagittarius ♐️🔥. I also get to use this for #Booked2020 #Winter since the author is the same age I am and, thus, a #MillenialAuthor Triple bonus was that the MC was queer making it an LGBT+ book which is perfect for pride month 🏳️‍🌈

Great on audio. Hearing Charly read her poems, written when ages 16-22, was a moving experience. As she struggles with anxiety and depression, being uncomfortable in her body, experiencing heartbreaks and self doubt, it felt familiar. It‘s a long time since I was her age, but I‘m not sure some of us ever lose those feelings completely. I love that she quotes “our lord savior” Britney Spears in her introduction,”I‘m not a girl, not yet a woman”💕

emilyhaldi @BarbaraBB we were definitely bummed to have to cancel our trip ? but hoping that we can reschedule for later in the year. I'm trying to enjoy the time at home for gardening and spring cleaning! ??? I have been working from home for a week but Ohio isn't in complete lockdown...Yet? Sounds like it will be another week at home atleast but then we'll see. How long are you planning to be in "quarantine"?? 5y

BarbaraBB We‘re not in quarantaine either... yet. Now Spring is arriving and the parks and beaches were overflown with people this weekend. No social distancing at all!! I think if many more people will be infected next week because of this, we‘ll go in lockdown too. 5y

So glad I stuck with this one. I wasn‘t feeling it until I got about a third of the way thru. Queenie was in all out self destruct mode and was in complete denial. It was difficult to read, but entirely realistic. Don‘t, worry: it has a good ending.
