Another recommendation from my daughter which I was able to finish in a day. I‘ve never read this before and was surprised how short it was. A good, easy read and another ticked off my list.

My youngest daughter loves science and showed me some pages in her new book. We ended up reading the whole book together and finished it in a day! So engaging and fascinating . Full of facts and colourful infographics from the Earth‘s magnetic poles to spider venom and black holes. One interesting point to note is many women scientists were over looked and didn‘t revive accolades or recognition until after their death.

kezzlou85 My eldest loves her Science and she noticed how little women scientists were recognised in their own lifetime 4y
Cupcake12 I‘ve just finished The Matilda Effect which is a middle grade book. The story is a real eye opening but suitable for younger children xx 4y

Before Dracula - there was Carmilla! Carmilla was definitely Victorian. It read to me like an epistolary novel mixed with a manor novel mixed with gothic horror. The difference being that it was very short (Little Dorrit anyone). And it was oddly erotic. But I think that is a hallmark of this writing period and style? Thoughts? It was a bit jarring to my modern sensibilities, but I liked it on the whole.

Texreader I liked it. It was fascinating that it was written so long before Stoker wrote Dracula. 5y

Even for a middle grade horror novel, I think Hahn phoned this one in, especially when Took was so creepy and fleshed out. A ghost is locked in an attic room of a crumbling house when a family with a lovely daughter arrives to renovate. While my daughter was up with the flu at 5am yesterday, I managed to plow through this for #FinishedInADay for #Booked2020 #Winter.

Reviewsbylola That‘s a bummer. Hahn is usually so good. I hope your daughter feels better! 5y
IamIamIam @Reviewsbylola Thanks so much!! 5y
Cinfhen Ugh for the book and a child who isn‘t feeling well 😫Hope your daughter is feeling better 5y

IamIamIam @Cinfhen Thanks! She's a trooper & I'm hoping my son doesn't end up with it... he's perfecting his Man Flu at a young age... 🙄 HAHA... I'm on to a great MG book for #BBRC so that's perked me up a bit! 😁 5y
Cinfhen Hope the family stays well 💚💚💚💚💚 5y

This was a fantastic #NonFictionGraphicNovel It is the story of the Donner Party told by the soon to be hanged Nathan Hale to his executioners. The story is really well researched & just well done. I'm planning on checking out a few other in this series & buying some for my nephews.

Read 'till 1am because l really wanted to finish, but l'm not really sure what l think of this story. It's actually something that really happened to the author, when he was a kid, in Munich, at a time when the Nazi Party was rising and just one of many similar movements.
Interesting, but not sure what the point was.

Also #FinishedInADay for #Booked2020 and #Germany for #ReadingEurope2020

Andrew65 A good time. Sounds an intriguing book. 👏👏👏 5y
TheSpineView I hate it when a book leaves you wondering if there was even a plot. 5y

Good book especially for those who are just starting out with #bulletjounaling or trying to get back into it/in a slump (me!). There were some great ideas in there and layout ideas and examples. #bujo #bulletjournal #booked2020 #finishedinaday #afbreadingchallenge2020 #standalone

MayJasper Interesting quote. Thanks. I am wondering what she meant by 'emotionally and spirituality independent'? 5y
alisiakae That is an interesting quote. I've never really thought that deeply about my #bujo, but could see how for some people it could show an alternative to their actual daily life. A list of what could have been, perhaps? 5y

Seanan McGuire/Mira Grant is a Master with words. She knows how to pack a lot into a few pages, and how to make the reader think and wonder about what she wrote. At least that the effect she has on me. Although, I did wish for a bit more insight into the characters‘ thoughts and feelings, but overall a good read!

monalyisha Terrifying cover! 😱 Glad you enjoyed! I almost bought myself a copy of Middlegame last night at the bookstore, but I couldn‘t bring myself to spend $30 on a hardcover. Yikes! 5y
alisiakae I only just now realized that Mira Grant and Seanan McGuire are the same person! 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Holy wow — that cover! Great job on the prompt. 📚♥️👊🏻 5y
Reggie I seem to not like the Seanan McGuire books version of her. But whenever she shows up in a short story anthology you remember her story. Out of how many there are, I always remember hers. 5y
