Just because it is my day off 👌 and don't worry, I will share the cakes with my bf. Maybe 😉 #NoShame

ephemeralwaltz Cuteee. Is that some iced coffee I spy?!😍 7y
Kalalalatja @Moray_Reads Luckily, he didn't want that much, so I didn't have to share a lot 😄 @ephemeralwaltz it is, and it is gooooood 👌 7y

This book is very far from everything I know. But it stilles touched me in a way I hadn't expected. It saddened me, angered me and opened my eyes in a way they haven't been before. A very powerful read!

This book! THIS BOOK! I can't deal with how good it was, I am completely mind blown. I love the language, the characters, setting and story. So important, hard and amazing.

If you haven't read it yet, run to your nearest bookstore and get it! 🏃‍♀️👏

suvata Beautiful cover. 8y
Sace I loved this book. Your cover is so much prettier than the cover on my copy. Cover envy. 8y
Merethebookgal @Sace I was thinking the same thing! 😁 8y

Centique I think I'm going to pick this for book club when it's my turn. I have real trouble finding a book with POC protagonists that they like. (Probably because we like very different books) Is this quite realistic and linear? 8y
Kalalalatja @suvata @Sace @Merethebookgal thank you, it is the very wonderful UK edition 👌 8y
Kalalalatja @Centique the story in itself is very linear, but the chapters do have some flashbacks. It is realistic, but there is some talk about spirits and dreams, but it doesn't move completely into magical realism 😊 8y
Centique Thanks @Kalalalatja I think that will work nicely! 8y
JazzFeathers It sounds very interesting. Never read this author. Into my TBR list it goes ^_^ 8y

So I am kinda speechless right now. And sitting with my mouth hanging open. I can't deal with how good, how beautiful, how exciting this book and the series as a whole have been!

Read it people!!

Moray_Reads I have these on my Kindle! Unread so far 🙁 8y
JoRead Now this is what I call an enthusiastic review. Thanks for the rec! ☺ 8y
Kalalalatja @Moray_Reads I was blown away by how beautiful the writing is, which can be kind of forgotten in fantasy novels sometimes. I think that these books are very different from other fantasy books I have read, and I can't wait to read more by Laini Taylor 👍 8y

First I was a bit confused by this book. Where was Karou? I didn't understand the need for introducing these new characters' point of view. But the further I got, the more interested I became in these different characters' experience of what was going on. Although my heart still beat a little faster when the chapters are from Karou or Akiva's pov. Equally as good as the first book without a doubt!

A book about a girl with blue hair, who collects teeth for a chimaera called Brimstone, who fights with an angel and lives in Prague - count me in! I loved this book, and began the second one as soon as I put the first down. The writing is amazing (!!!!), the characters wonderful and I can't believe I have waited this long to read it!

mcipher I adored this book and still haven't read the rest of them for no good reason. 2017, you are my year to fix that! (edited) 8y
Kalalalatja @mcipher sounds like a good plan! 8y

There are some things that are not that great about this book, but the important thing to say is that this book is important to read. For everyone. It broke my heart to pieces, and I felt so sad reading it. Rape, victim blaming and the consequences of both of these needs to be written about. This is not the best book I have ever read, but it is still one of the books which have impacted me the most.

This book was like a punch to the gut. It made me breathless, speechless and angry. On top of that it is well written, funny in places, sarcastic and inspiring. I kinda want to read it again already! 👌
