I loved all the elements that came together in this book! True crime, historical mysteries, a boarding school....all catnip for this reader. I can't WAIT for the second book to come out!

Cinfhen True crime??? Im intrigued...second book??? 6y
ferskner @TiredLibrarian It's creepy and fun in just the right ways! @Cinfhen Yes! It's the first of a trilogy, so there's time to really develop the layers of story. 6y
Cinfhen Oooohhh!! Adding this to my 2019 TBR 6y
BarbaraTheBibliophage Great job sneaking this one in under the wire!! 🎉🎉👏🏻👏🏻 6y

Book 20 of #MountTBR- I may have to check out Stiefvater‘s other books as I loved this one. I love Puck. She is a feisty and strong character. It had just the right amount of a romance and no love triangle!

I didn‘t need to fall into another series, but I have. While I don‘t think the plot was special, the MC, D.C. Fiona Griffiths definitely is. She had a breakdown as a teenager suffering from Cotard‘s Syndrome and is still affected by it. Fi is a little odd and struggles to respond to social cues. She is also cheeky and funny. I think I was totally charmed by her and will continue with the series. #Booked2018 #MCwithinvisibleillness

Bookzombie @TrishB Yay! I really like Fiona. 🙂 6y
Cinfhen Ohhh, maybe she can be my #femaleDetective for #Booked2019 6y
Bookzombie @Cinfhen It would definitely fit. 🙂 6y

Cinfhen Woohoo 🥳 I have a lot of choices but nothing is grabbing me 6y
TrishB @Cinfhen I‘m using for my female detective. There are great series by Jane Casey, Kerry Wilkinson M J Arlidge and Lisa Gardner with female detectives! 6y
TrishB I love Fiona too! 6y

This is what Boxing Day looks like in this part of the world. Yes, those little blobs are sea-swimmers, some with santa hats, or dressed as bananas. Of course. It‘s a charity do for the RNLI.

And I‘ve finished this book for #mhroundrobin, so it‘ll be on to you next Faye. It‘s by a concert pianist, living with anxiety, ocd, ptsd, you name it - & it‘s SO well done. And ultimately optimistic. This was my final book for #booked2018 & a great read! 🎉

gradcat This is so beautiful! It looks like where I live in my dreams...wish I was there!! Can I ask where this photo was taken? (edited) 6y
rockpools @gradcat It‘s Devon, UK. I‘m a Devon girl born & bred but we just moved to the coast this May, so it‘s still a major novelty being able to wander down to the beach of a morning! 6y

gradcat Thank you so much for answering...it‘s so beautiful, I‘m still swooning.... 6y
rockpools @Christine11 😊 I‘m v lucky! 6y
rockpools @squirrelbrain That *would* be cold! ❄️ Looks gorgeous though. I was amazed at the turnout - must have been over 100 swimmers/sea-walkers, and the prom was packed! 6y
rockpools @erzascarletbookgasm I know!!! It is surprisingly mild here at the moment though, so if you were going for a Boxing Day dip, it was probably a good year to do it. Still. 🥶 6y
rockpools @Rachbb3 😊 Thank you! We had good sky today! 6y
rockpools @Cinfhen Thanks Cindy! And thank you for hosting such fun challenges 😘 6y
rockpools @jhod Have you read it yet? Afraid you‘ll be getting pages of my waffle when it reaches you again 😉. 6y
youneverarrived Great photo! Looking forward to reading this book. 6y
rockpools @youneverarrived I hope you enjoy. I‘m never sure whether to post reviews for these, so I kept it brief! Hope you‘re having a good Christmas 🎄 6y
jhod No, I haven't - read good reviews of it which is why I bought it - look forward to reading alongside your musings! X 6y

Such a raw and true look at anxiety and agoraphobia from a candid and relatable point of view. The writing is really captivating and even through the cringe worthy parts, it is hard to put down. This book is honest and brave. #booked2018 #mcwithinvisibleillness

I first read this years ago after watching the film several times and I remember liking it but thinking the film was so much better. I loved it this time round. Great writing and insights. #mcwithinvisibleillness #booked2018

Cinfhen I totally remember the film. Never read the book. Glad to know it‘s a pick. 6y
alisiakae I remember feeling the same way. 6y
Emilymdxn I love both the film and the book tho I kind of keep them in completely separate parts of my head cause they feel so different 6y

Matt Haig lays it all bare as far as the depressive breakdown he suffered 14 years ago, and the depression and anxiety he has suffered from ever since.

I could relate because I also have an anxiety and panic disorder. Currently one of my medications is on backorder, which means I had to stop taking it cold turkey. Im doing pretty well and I‘m taking joy in the little things, like Starbucks holiday drinks!

#booked2018 #mcwithinvisibleillness

TrishB Sending hugs 😘 this book was also really helpful to me as I have someone very close who suffers from depression and anxiety. 6y
Reviewsbylola Thanks @TrishB ❤️❤️ 6y
MicheleinPhilly Backorder??? What kind of nonsense is that??? 6y
See All 15 Comments
Reviewsbylola I know. It‘s really frustrating because wtf are people supposed to do?? Now my pharmacy is saying that the medication is blocked on the manufacturer‘s website so they can‘t even order it. And the medication is buspirone, which is probably pretty often prescribed, I would think. @MicheleinPhilly 6y
Smrloomis Wow, sorry to hear that. Hope they get it back in soon 😣 6y
MicheleinPhilly That‘s bizarre. Can you call another pharmacy and maybe transfer your prescription temporarily? 6y
Reviewsbylola I‘ve talked to my doctor about it but unfortunately all the other pharmacies in the area have the same problem. If they happen to have some in stock, it‘s already allocated to others. Luckily my doctor is very communicative and has a back up plan if I need it. @MicheleinPhilly 6y
LeahBergen Back ordered?? That‘s awful! It‘s not one of the meds that give you bad side effects if you stop taking it abruptly, is it? I suffer from anxiety, too. 6y
Reviewsbylola I‘m not sure. I‘m on day 3 and I feel good, although I‘ve had some bad times on days 1&2 towards the end of the day. I‘ve only been on this medication two months which that may be a good thing. I know you‘re not supposed to stop SSRIs cold turkey but buspirone/buspar seems like an odd animal. It‘s different than any SSRI I‘ve ever taken before so maybe it‘s easier to go off of? @LeahBergen 6y
LeahBergen Oh, well that‘s good at least. Stopping the usual SSRIs cold turkey is horrendous (silly me, I tried it 😬). Here‘s hoping you continue to feel okay! 😘😘 6y
Reviewsbylola 😢😢😢 I‘ve heard horrible things! You must have felt awful. @LeahBergen 6y
Jas16 Omg. I am so sorry. That is absolutely ridiculous. 6y
JennyM You take care lovely. Such a fantastic book, and one I most definitely could relate to when the anxiety is high. Xxx😘 6y
Cinfhen I love your positive attitude - I‘m sure having a wonderful supportive family helps!!! And there is a joy in Starbucks holiday drinks xx 6y
Mdargusch Those Starbucks drinks sure do make my day better too. Especially when I get that free red cup! Hang in there. 😘 6y

It was just as heartbreaking as the first time I read it 💔💔💔

While this is a brutal, tough, unbearable read, I‘m still really glad I reread it. I gave myself more time with it this time around, because last time I just needed to know what would happen. And as a newly finished psychologist with a big interest in traumas, this provides a perspective uni didn‘t teach me about.
