First of, Its always important to share the stories of Holocaust victims & survivors.
Now to the book: I have read better, this did not impress me.

I think the cover is terribly misleading. The worst was definitely Caroline‘s chapters. Most of it could have been easily edited out, and when she actually had something interesting to say she was downright insufferable. No, I DON‘T care about how hard that affair was to you 🙄.

Powered_By_Plants Although tough This was a fantastic read , it stayed with me for days! Hope your enjoying it 💕 5y
achalla I agree! I devoured this book. The writing style was certainly different but this story of courage and hope will stay with me for a long time. I also look forward to reading Cilka's Journey? Have you read it yet? 5y
Powered_By_Plants Yes I loved it, I whizzed through it too. Yes me too! It‘s on my shelf waiting in a queue at the moment 😂. There is also the librarian, have you read that? A friend of mine recently visited Auschwitz and said she recognised things in the book, a very melancholy&eerie experience and said there wasn‘t any birds or wildlife around, just very still 😔 5y
achalla @Powered_By_Plants Your friend visited Auschwitz!!! I cannot begin to imagine the present situation there. It's beyond sad. I have heard of the Librarian but don't have a copy yet. I have #Lilacgirls which is also based on a true story. 5y

I‘m about 100 pages in and I‘m enjoying it so far. It‘s not a favorite yet. But so far, Kasia is my fav character. It‘s pretty heavy from the start. I‘ve heard great things, so we‘ll see what I think.

I typically have an audiobook to listen to while I drive or do things around the house in addition to a physical book to read whenever I can. I have been listening to this one for awhile and am enjoying the story but it is heavy. What are your thoughts?? #LilacGirls #heavyreading #audiobooks #LitsyBeginner

wanderinglynn This one is on my TBR, but I‘ve pushed it down a bit because it sounded a bit heavy based on the synopsis. 5y
Biblio_Baggins @wanderinglynn I just finished it and really loved the story. It was well-researched and well-written. The difficult parts are balanced by some really beautiful characters. 5y
Come-read-with-me @Biblio_Baggins I‘ve heard great things about this book. Thanks for the review -I‘m moving it up on my TBR! 5y
TheLiteraryLifestyle I‘m currently reading this one too. I‘m pairing the audio with the physical copy. It is heavy pretty much from the beginning. Overall, I‘m enjoying it but there are some perspectives and characters that I just don‘t care for. I‘m almost 100 pages in. 5y

I spent a large portion of my Sunday afternoon reading this heartbreaking book. Today, I‘m planning on finishing it. With a significant weather alert for today: high winds, lashing rain and warnings to stay indoors - it‘s the perfect excuse to curl up with a book!

This book is absolutely heart-wrenching, so I did put it aside yesterday. For the rest of the day I remained quite emotional & couldn‘t stop thinking about what I had read. #lilacgirls

blank This is one of my favorite books even though it is super sad 6y
catebutler @LaurensLibrary I can see why! What an emotional roller coaster. I was doing a bit of research yesterday and the author‘s blog is a great reference. I love how the real life characters come to life with the letters and photos she has found. I can see why she had to write this story! 6y

Taking a break from The Fiery Cross to get started on #LilacGirls, which I borrowed from the library. I‘ve heard nothing but good things. Perfect on this lazy, rainy day.

This was a beautiful book. This was the first book I have ever read on WWII (and they are my favorite) that had the perspective of someone who was German. It was amazing to see that perspective as well as an American and Polish perspectives. I would highly recommend this wonderful WWII book!

My sister, @JuliWilliams , said I had to read this before she forgets what happened so that we can talk about it. So, I went in Overdrive and put a hold on at the NY public library with 247 people ahead of me to read it! I decided to check the campus library where I work and there it was!! I feel like I just won a contest! Just need to finish #Lilacgirls first

ReadingSusan This book was not what I expected at all. It was so good. 7y
