Ruthiella I can only imagine how exciting this kind of thing would have been for people living in a small town back then. Also, Miss Pole is a real pain! 😂 The kind of person who can‘t shut up and just let others enjoy the show! 2y
Bookwormjillk Another amazing chapter. They‘re kind of like The Golden Girls but they‘re all Rose. I am loving this book. 2y

Ruthiella @Bookwormjillk 😂😂😂 All Rose! 2y
AllDebooks @Bookwormjillk omg, yes 😂😂😂 2y
Morr_Books I love how excited the rector was. @Bookwormjillk 🤣 2y
Aimeesue @Bookwormjillk 🤣🤣🤣 2y
dabbe This section reminded me of “The Mesmerizer“, an excerpt from Mark Twain's autobiography concerning a conjurer who comes to town and tries to put Twain into a trance. It's hysterical, just like this chapter. And the turban! 🤣🤣🤣 Perfect idea about Rose, too! I agree 💯. 2y
Clare-Dragonfly Miss Pole is the worst audience member! Poor Signor Brunoni! 😂 Though, you‘d think he could have matched his costume to his stage name! If Matty thinks he‘s an appropriate place to get fashion cues, I think the narrator is quite right to make different fashion choices for her. 2y
mcctrish When Miss Pole started talking during the performance I laughed out loud! My god these ladies are insufferable 🤣🤣 ready an hour and a half before the show so we‘ll just sit in the dark until it‘s time to go 2y
Vansa @Ruthiella exactly 😂😂so hilariously described. 2y
Vansa Absolutely loved this chapter.Specially the rectors eagerness to avoid the ladies of Cranford. Completely hilarious 2y
Clare-Dragonfly @Vansa You know, I think the rector is quite correct. As a man of God only, he‘s probably okay. As the husband of a genteel lady, he would not be safe in Cranford! 😬 2y

Bailedbailed

I just can't get into this. Channeling my inner snow queen and #letitgo. I don't care about any of these characters. Not sure what my problem is. This is bail # 2 this month. And I never bail.

@TheAromaofBooks

MsMelissa I finished this one, but I didn‘t like it. 4y
TheAromaofBooks Sometimes it's just not worth the effort of pushing yourself through a book when there are so many others out there that you'll actually love. 4y

Reviewed this book 2 days ago but as someone who gardens this scene continues to bug me:
“What do you mean, you don‘t have fresh sage? It‘s Thanksgiving Week.” Mrs. Beverly Anderson gripped the shopping cart handle so hard her knuckles turned white and started to burn." This character is a Gardener, who adds herbs to her flower beds, but doesn't grow Sage. Easy, low maintenance herb. One $3 plant yields years of fresh sage. ?‍? #gardeninginbooks

Crinoline_Laphroaig Does anyone else have this problem? When your hobby is badly represented in a book? I know. I know. I need to #letitgo 😏 6y
Purrsistently @Crinoline_Laphroaig YES, as an avid knitter and someone who took archery lessons it drives me nuts when it‘s badly portrayed in a book or movie.😅 6y
kgriffith YUUUUUP 6y
mabell I have a sage BUSH! It is huge, and the bees love it :) 6y
Crinoline_Laphroaig @mabell Such a wonderful plant! Love the smell. @Purrsistently @kgriffith Glad I'm not alone in my judgeyness. 😀 6y

I keep forgetting this is a contemporary novel...I‘m sucked in to the “Rebecca-esque”/Gothic vibe and then she drops a Frozen reference. ❄️👸🏼⛄️ #letitgo #thecoldneverbotheredmeanyway

Approaching the halfway mark and really enjoying the ride.

Tomigirl44 I had the same experience - every mention of the protagonist‘s cell phone jarred me! 6y
JackOBotts @Tomigirl44 - exactly! In a way, that signaled to me how well Ware created the ambiance. I really got lost in it. 6y
Tomigirl44 I agree - I‘m not sure how she did it but the setting she created was perfect. 6y

My handle (yeah, I'm old) is gossamerchild because I used the word gossamer in a writing assignment for an English class in high school. No one understood what the word meant, so naturally I was instantly mocked and the name stuck. HAHA, BITCHES, TOLKIEN WILL SHOW YOU!!! Why do I remember this? #lotrchapteraday #letitgo #fyihighschoolisover

Chelleo 👊🏼👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 7y
Centique That‘s awesome. Those silly mocking children. I would‘ve claimed you as a kindred spirit! 😋 7y
