I absolutely loved Station Eleven and The Sea of Tranquility, so I was disappointed to find this one a bit of a snooze. I just didn't care about any of the characters or their journeys. I picked this one up for #AuthorAMonth, and now wish I had gone with The Glass Hotel instead 😂. @Soubhiville

Caryl Definitely read The Glass Hotel if you liked Sea of Tranquility! 11h

Pickpick

Interesting story about a young mother who makes a desperate choice, and the consequences of that choice years in the future. The structure of going back and forth in time made sense for the narrative, but the POV shifts made it hard for me to connect with any of the characters. There‘s also a LOT of commentary about the soulless nature of suburbia.

Not my favorite of hers but still worthwhile.

The end of the school year has us clearing spaces and slowly prepping for next year. One of the perks of cleaning our spaces is purging things that we no longer want or need. Well…one teachers trash is another teacher ‘s treasure! I scored this baby and I can‘t wait to crack the spine!

TheBookgeekFrau @Eggs I haven't read all of them yet, but I've enjoyed the ones I've gotten to; the setting and the history are fascinating. But The Lions of Fifth Ave just edges ahead overall for me 🦁😊 3w
Eggs @TheBookgeekFrau BTW I saw that her next book is publishing January 2025!! 3w

I‘ll be back later with April recaps, but first…May mysteries!

These are my “required reading” for this month but not all I expect to read. #preview

“Henry looked up and down the empty avenue—no cars or trucks anywhere. No bicycles. No paperboys. No fruit sellers or fish buyers. No flower carts or noodle stands. The streets were vacant, empty—the way he felt inside. There was no one left.”
