I love mountains, but I will happily enjoy/admire some of them from lower altitudes tyvm.
In the course of finding this picture, I learned that 2023 has also been a deadly year for Mt. Everest climbers, while the incident discussed in the book still represents the greatest loss of life on the mountain on a single day (10 May 1996).

As an Olympian contender in his youth, Louis helped to carry the Olympic torch in old age for the 1998 Nagano Games. Zamperini died in 2014 at the age of 97. Exceptional book.

pickBk3 of #JumpStart2023 is finally done! This is over 31hrs long, but so worth it. About the beginning of the AIDS crisis, it infuriated me, made me think & most of all made me so sad. The infighting & bullshit from gov, doctors & the gay community is just unfathomable.
