Imagine reading the tagged book while thinking about this face. It helps to recall the voice as well.

11/22/63: A Novel | Stephen King
post image

Surprisingly I haven't been #creepedout yet by my first Stephen King! #newyearnewyou @Eggs

Marni This is your first Stephen King? This is a great book but definitely not the horror story most of his others are. Great choice! I recommend Misery if you haven‘t read any others. 5y
jenniferw88 @Marni yeah - I don't do horror - I can't watch The Matrix or Pan's Labyrinth as they're too scary! What's the level of scary in Misery? Also would I be able to cope with the Mr Mercedes trilogy? 5y
Marni I haven‘t read Misery since middle school so I honestly couldn‘t say. Just remember it was a page turner and definitely kept me on edge! So, not totally sure the scare level... Mr Mercedes for sure you could handle! 5y

ljuliel I‘ve not read Misery and not seen the movie. That being said, I‘ve HEARD a small piece of the movie, which was enough to turn my stomach. Yuk. Try Bag of Bones. It‘s not scary and is a bit like a ghost story. Not bad at all. 5y
jenniferw88 @ljuliel thank you - i like ghost stories so going to stack Bag of Bones 5y
ljuliel Some other good ones that don‘t have graphic stuff would be The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. Both very good books. 5y
Eggs King is the epitome of creepy 😳 5y
Cortg This was my 1st Stephen King book and I loved it! It's not scary or creepy but I loved the story and fell in love with his writing! I've read a few more of his books since this one. 5y
cajunsyd This one isn‘t like his creepy/scary novels, it‘s a bit different but really good! Enjoy! 5y
Cathythoughts Such a great book .... ❤️❤️❤️ 5y
Robin3 Reading it now loving it so far love Stephen King 5y
Mrsann2000 I do not usually read King/creepy however this is one of my favorite books ever! Enjoy! 5y
LiteraryinPA I‘ve never read Stephen King and have always been scared to do so. But this one seems really interesting. 5y
jenniferw88 @LiteraryinLititz I'm nearly at the end now & I'd say there's only 2 really scary bits in it - but it's not scary as in horror but scary as in 'i have to keep reading to find out what's happened' - if that makes sense. I'd recommend it as a good starting point! 5y

Christine | Stephen King
post image

Evil inhabits a custom-painted red and white 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine and young Arnold Cunningham, who buys it. This vintage Stephen King came out in 1983 - the ‘80s and ‘90s being 2 decades where I gobbled up King‘s novels. But this one ...... completely #creepedout
#newyearnewyou

Soubhiville This was my first King ever, and it hooked me! I read everything I could by him for several years. 5y
Eggs Me too!! @Soubhiville 5y
TheSpineView Never read the book. However, I remember the movie. 5y
Curiouser_and_curiouser I remember it (or its presence 😱) being on our bookshelf as kids, my mum's copy is now mine. I used to read excerpts as a child and totally creep myself out! 5y
Eggs @Soubhiville My first was Firestarter, then I was hooked on SKing! Cujo, Pet Semetary, The Stand, etc 5y

I Am Death | Chris Carter
post image

Carter‘s books are gritty but this one was over the top. Sanding a victim‘s face was too gruesome for me. Child abuse is hard to take too. I enjoy reading but just can‘t get enjoyment out of this treatment. Sad to say, his books come from his memory of crimes he worked. Read his books if you have a strong stomach but be forewarned that they are gritty. Love the short chapters as the pages do fly. He doesn‘t waste words which is good too!

EadieB I love Carter‘s gritty books but this one went way beyond. (edited) 5y

#NewYearNewYou Day 16: Chloe is #CreepedOut by Adrian Simcox who keeps claiming that he has a horse when it is clear that he does NOT. It took a short trip to the more disadvantaged side of town, led by Chloe‘s mother in the pretext of walking their dog, for Chloe to see beyond lies, half-truths, and the struggling dignity of someone who has nothing but their unbridled imagination to see him through. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-lkX

My husband is watching Sabrina on Netflix, it creeps me out! I may be moving out of this comfy chair and reading someplace else, as to not hear this in the background. #toopagan #creepedout #iamachicken

"Why anyone would even want a soundproof vault was a question that apparently did not occur to him." Yes, of course. Soundproof vault in a basement? Nothing strange about that. The more I read this, the more I realize just how nuts Holmes must've been to plan so thoroughly. #creepedout

rekahlee I think this adequately answers my question about reading it after dark 👻 8y
