I just received this text from the #CovidPolice - I have tested positive for Covid and in order to quarantine at home I had to agree to allow my phone to be tracked for the next 5 days to make sure I adhere to the mandated quarantine protocol. I‘m pretty sure this type of surveillance would NEVER pass in other countries. It says they will FaceTime me in the next 5 days and I have 30 minutes to respond, to be sure I am home. I‘m still processing.

squirrelbrain Sorry to hear this. They did used to ring and door-knock people here in the UK; not sure if they still do and I think it was more to do with people returning from abroad and having to quarantine. Hope you don‘t feel too bad… and more time for reading! 😘 3y

starlight97 We have a similar type of surveillance here in Hungary — you have to check in on your phone from time to time and they could come to your house any time to see that you're actually home. Hope you're doing well and this will be over soon! 💕 3y

Verity China is all this and worse I think. Little sister didn‘t catch it while they were living there but it was incredibly strict even when you didn‘t have it. 3y

erzascarletbookgasm They do that in China, or at least in Shanghai when my cousin returned there to work, after travelling abroad & had to be quarantined. I hope you recovery quickly! 💕 3y

Cinfhen I had a night of fever & chills and I‘m mostly congested with a sore throat and terrible sinus headaches but otherwise I‘m really ok. Thanks for the good wishes @squirrelbrain @LeahBergen Im not surprised China has a severe tracking system @erzascarletbookgasm @Verity but I‘m surprised to hear Hungary as well @starlight97 Yes, I currently reside in Israel @MrsMalaprop which apparently has the highest infection rate of omicron per capita 😬 3y

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I‘d be in trouble - I sometimes miss that my phone is ringing when I‘m holding it. Not entirely sure what the processes are here in Australia. There are PCR tests (results verified in a lab, you receive results via text) and those rapid antigens tests (called RATS because Australia likes to shorten everything 🙄) the you do at home - you are meant to report positive ones. Work has a whole bunch of procedures - my eyes glazed over the when I read 3y

alisiakae Hope you recover quickly! The fatigue has been the worst for me, that is the only thing still lingering. How long do you have to quarantine? I still can‘t believe the CDC lowered the timeframe to 5 days, I‘m isolating for 10, at day 5 I still felt like crap. Those are some serious rules! I have had my phone on DND most of the last week, to give me space to sleep during the day without interruptions. 3y

Crazeedi This is just horrible, I'm so sorry I am over this stuff. Get well soon Cindy. Sad you have to live under this tyranny. Israel most vaccinated country and most cases, so maybe it's time to just say no more?? 3y

KatieDid927 Other countries have even stricter quarantine rules than we do. It‘s all about keeping people safe and preventing spread. 3y

Cinfhen I‘m more freaked out from receiving a text with the heading PoliceCovid than actually finding out I have Covid @Laughterhp @BarbaraBB @KarenUK @AmyG @DivineDiana @Librarybelle @sprainedbrain @TrishB I TOTALLY get the overall goal is to keep all citizens safe @KatieDid927 but like @Crazeedi said it seems nearly impossible to contain this virus. Cinfhen So protocol is 5 days of isolation on day 6 I can test again if it‘s negative I‘m done with quarantine if it‘s positive I need to wait 2 more days. Unless I test on day 7 and it‘s negative @4thhouseontheleft it all seems so random. Masks are still mandated indoors for EVERYONE! I‘m glad you are starting to feel better. My biggest issue is the headaches and the congestion/sinus pressure. 3y

Chrissyreadit I hope you feel better- and I think getting a message from something called covidpolice is very disturbing- why not COVID management? Or hepforhealing, or magicalministry (then I‘d be looking forward to the call at least) im guessing the spread is significant because of population density? And hopefully vax rates have meant fewer hospitalizations and deaths? Sending you healing vibes friend ❤️ 3y

And yes, our death rates are low in comparison to our infections rates. Thank Gd. And 5 days is probably a good amount of time to rest and recharge 3y

Sapphire Early on here in the US when tracing was still considered a containment strategy, I knew some people who got daily calls from the health department to ensure they were still isolating. 3y

Cinfhen It‘s A LOT to process @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Sapphire Israel is still relatively small enough country that they can attempt to track the spread but in other countries like the US, it‘s too vast to even pretend. I‘m just relieved I‘m not that sick to require hospitalization. 3y

alisiakae @AmyG thank you! I‘m feeling lots better, just have to work to rebuild my stamina. I‘m on day 8 and 🤞🤞no secondary infection seems to be popping up. Because of my asthma, I‘m prone to develop pneumonia & bronchitis, just had bronchitis after a cold in December! 3y

Megabooks I am so sorry!! I was afraid with the symptoms you had, since they were so similar to mine, that you had Covid. For me, the headache and very dry eyes were the worst. I had a sore throat but never any coughing or shortness of breath. I feel terrible for you going through that. All the comments let you know that you are not alone. I have COVID now too, reported it to my local health department online and haven‘t heard a word 😂 they are supposed to call to give instructions but 🦗 My son had it last week and they didn‘t do anything for him either. I‘m not even sure they called his school to inform them…? Hope you‘re feeling ok! 3y

Cinfhen The Covid police have texted me every day since I entered quarantine and I need to respond with a location pin within 30 minutes @Chelsea.Poole it‘s VERY #BigBrotherIsWatching but honestly I think it‘s more scare tactics than anything else. How are you feeling??? I‘ve had mostly sinus congestion/ pressure with a sore throat and terrible headaches (which all seem to be dissipating). I‘d say it‘s a miserable winter cold but Thank Gd nothing more. 3y

Cinfhen I‘m fine, my Covid was very mild but unfortunately for my hubby the Covid triggered his autoimmune disorder and created a full blown disaster @robinb Thanh Gd after 6 days it seems to be under control 🤞🏼🤞🏼 3y
