A good Norse inspired saga. I feel like it could have been a bit shorter (did we need every character‘s thoughts at each scene?) it was good and read pretty quick for the length. Jael is a badass, annoying characters develop, & the side characters grow on you.

Jael is stuck in an arranged marriage to drunken buffoon Eadmund in order to forge an alliance between their lands. Lost of sword swinging &secret alliances ensue.

Moving onto my next book for #ChristmasCozy @Peanutnine

Phillipa Ashley doesn‘t usually disappoint at this time of year.

First book finished for #ChristmasCozy. @Peanutnine

Sarah Morgan does it again with this book. A quite inauspicious start, but you soon learn to love the main character, and feel sorry for her earlier life. This book had all the feels for Christmas and a few 😭 moments. I do love her books and this was right up there. Plenty of romance and new family situations. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️

Battle Ground | Jim Butcher

Mehso-so

This is one long battle sequence, hence the name. I found it very boring to read and ended up skimming most of the book.

Originally, Peace Talks and Battle Ground were one book. I would have preferred that. Cut a few bits out and make the narrative tighter and it would have worked. On its own, Battle Ground is a slog.

⬇️

PuddleJumper Because of the grand scale of things, many character details and plots got lost. Thomas was hardly mentioned for example.

The Murphy thing was very stupid and unnecessary. Harry didn't need more reason to fight. It was cheap.

It's still a well written book but I've not been enjoying this series as much. The last few books were very hard to read and don't have the re-readability of the early books.

peanutnine Bummer. At least you can check it off your TBR! 4w
Ruthiella Late series bloat… it‘s a danger , regardless of the series or genre, I think. 4w

A simple cozy with a hallmark feel to it. Set in an Italian village so Italian Christmas foods, traditions, festivals lend a festive feel to the read. #christmascozy #kindleunlimited

A quick holiday read. The novella is part of the Maine Clambake Series but can be enjoyed as a stand-alone. Holiday feels in October!

Love these characters!
‘Much the same – no real ill effects at all. We should drink champagne all the time.‘ ‘I remember a timid seventeen-year-old girl who‘d never so much as touched a drop of beer, let alone champagne. And now look at you.‘ ‘You‘ve led me astray,‘ I said. ‘You and your fancy, society ways.‘ ‘I‘m a corrupting influence and no mistake.‘ ‘You‘re an absolute shocker.‘ #christmascozy 🎄
