Congratulations @CSeydel on you special milestone, and thanks for paying it forward with the #12345 Giveaway!!

My bookish anecdote is that when I was in elementary school I always read ahead (especially when we took turns reading aloud), and I always got in trouble for it. The nuns had very little patience for intelligence.

Congratulations on a fun milestone @CSeydel. Thanks for the chance to win! #12345

My bookish anecdote: when I was 10, I read Gone with the Wind for the first time. I stayed up all night reading it under the covers with a flashlight, way past my bedtime. I got caught because I was sobbing so loudly I woke up my mom at 3am.
My mom would also catch me reading in the closet when I was suppose to be doing chores.

Congrats @CSeydel on your fun litfluence number #12345 #giveaway When my kids were little I took them to Border‘s to see SPOT ( a beloved book/ character) when my son, Eric saw a 6ft SPOT standing on two feet, he had a meltdown. He was so spooked by the sight of a costumed SPOT, I had to remove all of the SPOT books from his bedroom. He NEVER looked at another SPOT book after that day 😂

CSeydel Ohhh that‘s so sad! I know how that goes though! 7y
CSeydel My kids were Spot fans too 😉 7y

Cinfhen We joke about it now @CSeydel @LeahBergen and Eric says he still has nightmares ~ it was really sad though. I singlehandedly traumatized my child😜 7y
Centique @Cinfhen oh my! Poor Eric 😟 Do you know when I was 20 and working at a bookshop Spot was a character I had to dress up as occasionally (also Winnie the Pooh and Peter Rabbit) and kids were either delighted or horrified - it was kind of terrible to see! I abdicated that responsibility ASAP. 7y
TrishB Awww Spot was so cool too 👍🏻 7y
Cinfhen Hahaha, I can imagine the reactions @Centique I know @TrishB Eric looked so freaked out, although my daughter was hysterical because she wanted to stay & see Spot and I had to drag her out of the store because Eric was flipping. I was of course cursing my hubby because he was home watching Sunday football & I was on my own🤬🤬🤬 7y
smilingshelves My two-year-old had a very similar reaction when we met a life-size Clifford! He was scared of all dogs for a while there. 7y
Cinfhen Yup!! That too @smilingshelves 😛my son was just about 2 as well when he encountered Spot 7y

#giveaway #12345

Don‘t forget to share your stories for a chance to win a gift box! Make a new post telling me a cute or funny bookish anecdote. Drawing will be held Wednesday 5/16.

Here‘s an anecdote from me 👇

CSeydel Years ago, I went to Gen Con and I had the chance to meet & greet Timothy Zahn. I enjoyed his Heir to the Empire series but I wasn‘t familiar with the series he was there promoting. Nevertheless I had faith so I bought the new book and got in line. When it was my turn to get signed he asked me if I realized this was BOOK 3 of a trilogy, and had I read the first two?👇 7y
CSeydel Not yet, but I will, I assured him. I could tell he wasn‘t convinced but eventually he had no choice but to sign and hand over the book, all the while imploring me to be SURE to read books one and two FIRST. I felt so bad for him that bought the other books immediately upon returning home. I only wish I had some way to let him know. 7y
CSeydel Still makes me chuckle remembering how insistent he was! 7y

Congrats going out to @CSeydel for reaching a cool milestone! 🎉
#12345

My book-related anecdote would have be when I wasn't sure what to get for Christmas. Then I browsed through the Kindle e-readers on Best Buy. Before that, I didn't really like reading, but ever since I got my first Kindle (a Kindle Touch), I really enjoyed reading. But years later, I remembered getting it as an excuse for not doing my homework instead of playing video games.

CSeydel Too funny :) 7y

When I saw this post by @CSeydel , I remembered it from my childhood! I love those moments; It‘s like greeting an old friend. Friends, to celebrate her awesome #12345 milestone, a giveaway is going on! 💖 My funny literary story involves me saying to a friend when I was in high school: “I can‘t think of the word I want to use... it sounds like epiphany... I think it‘s ‘epi-tomey.” And he said, “do you mean epitome?” 😂

BookishTrish This book! I haven‘t thought of it in years! 7y
booksbrewsandbooze @BookishTrish Me too! The memory of it came right back to me when I saw the cover pic! 7y
Literary_Siren Just bought this on Kindle and the cover says it‘s soon to be a major motion picture! 6y

booksbrewsandbooze @Literary_Siren what?! 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 Ok, I have got to reread it!! 6y
booksbrewsandbooze @Literary_Siren also, I see you‘re a gamer! What are some of your favorite games? 6y
Literary_Siren I‘m a huge Zelda fan! And I love the Tomb Raider games on PlayStation. I‘m so excited for September, that‘s when the new one is released. I also like The Last of Us and the Uncharted games. 6y
booksbrewsandbooze @Literary_Siren Nice! I have fond memories of playing Nintendo games when I was little (when my siblings weren‘t playing!) As an adult, I mostly favor games I played then, but on the computer, world of Warcraft became my game of choice for a while, but I haven‘t played in years! Still miss it though! 😍 6y

I can‘t think of an interesting book story other than getting to meet and visit with Lauraine Snelling while I was working at a bookstore. #12345

Congrats @CSeydel and thank you for your super generous #12345 giveaway!
Entertaining book related anecdote?
I fell asleep reading a hard cover chunkster. As I dozed off the book slipped from my hands and the corner of the book hit me square in the eye. Resulting in my first and only black eye. The worst part? I‘m a domestic violence specialist. “I got it reading” apparently doesn‘t sound like a plausible explanation. 🙄

CSeydel Oh that‘s awful, but I admit I am laughing, just a little bit. 7y
