Crazy!
3½⭐
I really liked Little Secrets…I didn‘t really like Jar Of Hearts. So I wasn‘t sure I wanted to give her older books a try…but what can I say…here I am. Overall, I wasn‘t crazy about the writing, the characters, or the narration and I was all set to give this only 3 stars but that final twist changed things up a bit. Kind of took one of the sizeable issues I had with the story and made it a non-issue. Still…it didn‘t take all my issues away.
“Pulsing with the dark obsession of Radiohead‘s song “Creep,” Jennifer Hillier‘s superb debut thriller is a terrifying cat-and-mouse game between a woman with everything to lose, and the lover she couldn‘t resist…who‘s now the monster who won‘t let her go.”
Started a new audiobook! I like the momentum I have right now, hoping I can keep it up!

The pacing of this book felt a bit off, but an entertaining enough read. I did not like this book enough to pick up the sequel though...
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐Jennifer Hillier books have been on my radar and on my tbr for a while now. My only regret now is that I didn't pick one of her books up sooner to read! I was hooked from the first chapter and devoured the entire book in under 24 hours. It's creepy/stalkery, atmospheric...everything I enjoy. When a teacher goes from having an affair with her assistant to being his prey. I couldn't fault this book at all. The twist was good too.
At first I wasn't so sure about this book, because the villain is so over the top and ridiculous, but eventually I got sucked in. There were some nice twists and I plan on reading book 2, Freak.
I had this book & its follow up on my Kindle for ages & having just finished an #ARC of the author's newest book, I finally read them. Very dark & twisty psychological thriller about a psychology professor who has an affair with her TA & when she gets engaged & ends it, he's not willing to let it go in a very big way. A definite page-turner, it gets graphic & disturbing & couple of the twists really caught me by surprise-bonus points for that!😱👍
I was trying to settle in with popcorn, work in a few more chapters of this thriller on the Kindle (best for one handed reading in dim light without my contacts 😆) & watch some Trading Spaces & my neighbor keeps texting me with questions. 😣She started at 9PM. Isn't there a social rule about that?! There should be! She is harshing my Saturday night introversion vibe.
Whoops! This pic is pretty much deja vu to last week Friday when I was eating the same coffeeshop breakfast of Eggs Caprese and coffee and reading the same thriller. I haven't had much time for this one, but I'm about 45% in and it's not bad. Finishing up some work & emails and looking forward to a weekend of rest, reading and hopefully finally kicking this cold. 🤧 Hope your weekend is starting well.
Happy #AlohaFriday 🌺🍍
#ReadingResolutions #suspense ?I just finished the author's suspenseful "Jar of Hearts"-a NetGalley #ARC (review coming) & realized that I've had this book & it's follow-up "Freak" on my Kindle for ages. My eyes for suspense & thrillers (one of my favorite genres) are always bigger than my capacity to get them read.?Thought I'd give it a try this morning over Friday coffeeshop Eggs Caprese before getting started on work.
Happy Aloha Friday! ?
Borrowed from the library yesterday. May crack it tomorrow when I'm not so tired. Sounds really suspenseful. Let's see if it is!
