#blameitonLitsy - finally giving Audible a try. Used my credit on one of my favourite historical romances - the last of the series and the best in my opinion 💚🐉

I joined a new book club last night!

One of the things I missed most when we moved 3 years ago was my book club.

This club reads all kinds of romance and Slightly Dangerous was a good one.

Often funny, a little unexpected, and very real emotions.

This is the last book in a series of six and I liked it so well, I'm considering picking up the other five.

I started a new puzzle to finish this one on audio. I know I read some of Balogh‘s other Slightlys but missed this one. I LOVED the first part during the house party. Forced proximity is always a favorite trope of mine in romance. I lost some steam at the end. Despite understanding where her feelings came from, I thought Christine was a bit too mean and hard on Wulfric. He tried and tried and she kept assuming and insulting him. #romantsy

Friday I inadvertently ended up spending several hours finishing this puzzle because I got hooked on my audio. I was having trouble finding my audio groove and I have never listened to a romance before (I wasn‘t sure how I would feel having someone read the intimate scenes to me) but both @Chachic and @Angieville were recommending this one and the only format I could get my hands on immediately was audio. And suddenly I‘m halfway through the book.

Pamwurtzler I love that puzzle! 7y
Angieville Yay! 7y
MarriedtoMrT @Pamwurtzler Me, too! I haven‘t been able to take it down yet. The quality of the pieces is just ok but the colors and textures in the pictures really draw me. 7y
Chachic Glad you're enjoying it! I can never get into audio books, maybe I could if I had to drive for long periods of time. 7y

I'm not a huge fan of Regency romances, I enjoy them while I'm reading them but they all tend to blur together in my mind afterwards. I normally don't read one unless it comes highly recommended, which was the case with this book. Lucy Parker was very enthusiastic in recommending this Pride & Prejudice retelling, I have to thank her for it because I stayed up until early morning to read this in one go.

(Continued in comments)

Chachic I was hooked right from the time Christine meets Wulfric! Actually I was laughing so hard. Christine is a smart heroine who is just so vibrant and full of life, a very pleasant character to read about. And she takes the dark and broody Duke of Bewcastle completely by surprise. I really enjoyed how Mary Balogh took elements of Pride and Prejudice but made the story completely her own. Had so much fun reading this book. #romantsy 7y
CoffeeK8 This might still be my favorite one of hers! I 💖 regency but I do agree they blur together. 7y
Christy2318 I‘ve read some Balogh a long time ago. Not sure which ones. She‘s been on my TBR forever. I didn‘t know there was a P&P retelling. This is catnip for me so she gets a bump up the list. 7y

Chachic @CoffeeK8 That's why I don't read it that often, they tend to blur together so I don't remember what happened in a specific book. Pretty sure I'll remember this one though. 7y
Chachic @Christy2318 This is my first of hers, and I only really picked it up because it's a Pride and Prejudice retelling and I enjoy reading those. Do you have any other P&P retelling favorites? 7y
Christy2318 So far I like the Pride & Prejudice & Zombies movie. The book version was terrible. Eligible was ok but not great. Same with P&P&Mistletoe. 7y
Chachic @Christy2318 I don't remember much about it now but I know I enjoyed 7y

Not much of a historical romance reader but this Pride and Prejudice retelling came highly recommended by one of my favorite authors, Lucy Parker.

Angieville I think Mary Balogh is very talented. I‘ve enjoyed a couple of hers. I‘ll have to give this one a try. 7y

Here's what I've been doing for two days! So far Slightly Dangerous is the best. I love Wulf. I love how Mary B is able to portray sunny characters and make them sexy (harder than you might think!). But super-alpha, lonely Wulf? Fabulous!! #romantsy #historicalromance.

CoverToCoverGirl I've read them and I agree she writes great stories! 💕 7y
balletbookworm She wrote the only amnesia story that I like - Alleyne's book. No one tries to take advantage or deceive the guy with the obviously faulty memory 7y
balletbookworm Also, Wulf's book is such a good conclusion to that series 7y

Final book of the Bedwin collection, finally in my hands. I was specially anxious about these one ? "All of London is abuzz over the imminent arrival of Wulfric Bedwyn, the reclusive, cold-as-ice Duke of Bewcastle, at the most glittering social event of the season. Some whisper of a tragic love affair. Others say he is so aloof and passionless that not even the greatest beauty could capture his attention...."

BeckyD I love this series. 8y

Amazing. A sweet, tender, slow building romance between a sparkling heroine and a very proper, but also very human, hero. The HEA is amazing, both for the main couple and as the conclusion of this series. #romantsy #OSRBC
