Starting this one while my son plays in the bath

A cute cozy fantasy about a witch who works in a bookshop and who must undergo a month of heavy training to retake trials to retain her magic. It‘s got fun characters, some you love, some you love to hate. While not written with quite the same skill, if you like Sangu Mandanna‘s books, it‘s worth trying this one. Loved the audiobook narrator.

Cute, cozy, and full of magic! A beautiful story about finding yourself and your place in the world!

Very good. Full of magic and love for books. Enjoyed the magical story and the characters were well rounded.

This was a cute story. Living in London, Bella is a witch working at a bookstore which her new boss is draining the magic out of the place. Bella is turning 30 and needs to pass a magic test to stay a witch. She gets a mentor and a protector and sparks fly.

I had a gift card from B & B burning in my pocket so off I went today - some tables had buy one get second one 1/2 off so of course I had to indulge myself -all fiction or historical fiction-not a mystery in the stack!

I appreciated that this wasn‘t a romance like a lot of other witchy books (although there is a love interest). It‘s not that I don‘t enjoy witchy romances, but it was satisfying that this focused more on the magical world-building and Belle‘s self-discovery and empowerment. I think the story could have been tightened up with more editing, but it was an enjoyable read overall, perfect for the Halloween season.
