It has been a long time since I read a Ngaio Marsh mystery - reminded me a bit of Agatha Christie in that classic era mystery way. Enjoyable mystery about a murder at an artist‘s retreat.

Finished up this #audiobook by classic detective novelist Ngaio Marsh. There‘s a lot of police procedure in here, although inspector Roderick Alleyn doesn‘t quite live up to modern professional standards (falling in love with one of the suspects, allowing a journalist friend to sit in on key interviews with him 🙄). My attention wandered a bit, but still a nice twisty #mystery for its time, even if I don‘t need to run out and find more.
I‘m rereading my Ngaio M collection. Marsh was an artist and there‘s a charged reality to the painting set-up but at the same time the murder is so entirely unlikely that it felt like an enormous joke. Are elaborate murders even written these days? #mystery
Thurston has a bath while I hang out with Roderick Alleyn and Agatha Troy. #catsoflitsy
