Abattoir Blues
Abattoir Blues | Peter Robinson
7 posts | 9 read | 1 reading | 7 to read
Canada's premier, bestselling crime fiction writer, Peter Robinson gets better and better. The twenty-second book in the much-loved Inspector Banks series -- that has sold more than ten million copies worldwide -- will appeal to readers of Ian Rankin and Michael Connelly. The story begins with a stolen tractor, hardly a job for DCI Banks and his Homicide and Major Crimes team, but the new police commissioner has put rural crime high on her agenda. At the same time, an apparent crime scene is discovered in an old hangar at an abandoned World War II airfield. In addition, two local lads are missing. One of them lives in a caravan, which is burned to the ground one night, and the other's girlfriend receives an unwelcome visit from someone impersonating a police officer. Just as Banks and his team are getting a grip on all these incidents, a motor accident in a freak hailstorm turns up a gruesome discovery that spins the investigation into high gear. Soon it seems that not even the investigators themselves are safe during the race against time that follows.

TODAY‘S CHALLENGE: DARK

A stolen tractor, blood in an abandoned hanger, and now dead bodies and missing suspects.

I would recommend IN THE DARK PLACES to any reader who likes to figure out the mystery but rarely does.  :)

Today‘s Prompt: Dark

IN THE DARK PLACES kept me guessing until the end. Mr. Robinson knows how to create drama that takes the reader to a different level and then wraps it all up with an ah ha at the end.

I would recommend IN THE DARK PLACES to any reader who likes to figure out the mystery but rarely does. :)

Pickpick

I'm having one of those reading slumps where you can't stick at any one book, then I picked this up and flew through it in a couple of hours. Go figure. I love the Inspector Banks books, set in the Yorkshire Dales district, this is No22 in the series. It has a pretty gruesome murder that's associated with a rural theft ring. This is my R book in #LitsyAtoZ & in #BookRiot #ReadHarder #booksetmorethan5000milesaway

LauraBrook Same thing happened to me last night! I finally started (yet another) book and flew through it in a few hours. Woo! Hope both of us are over our slumps. 8y

Tonight's #booksandmidnightsnacks is Abattoir Blues by Peter Robinson, Chamomile Honey & Vanilla tea & a warmed Krispy Kreme donut topped with PeanutButterSweetCream&ChocPretzels Icecream. #betterthansex #litsyafterdark #icecreamislife

JulieAnn I got so confused when I saw this title because I read the US version In the Dark Places. I hate it when they do that because I thought awesome, another Alan Banks and then it turns out to be one I already read. Lol 8y

On this grey, wet & windy Wednesday, I've decided to hold off on A Court Of Mist & Fury to build up the suspense, and read the 22nd Inspector Banks novel instead. Cold grey Yorkshire weather is a perfect complement to ours. DCI Banks is called out for the theft of a tractor, but what seems a petty crime turns into something sinister when a bloodstain is found & 2 main suspects disappear.

[DELETED] 2232195534 I really like this series! Have not read this one yet. Enjoy! 8y
