1. Okay. It‘s Monday for sure & I‘m tired but I‘m feeling mostly ready for the workshop I‘m teaching this week & no travels. I‘m also attending a Health & Wellness Conference on Thursday that I‘m excited about.💛
2. I have a sit in silence I practice every morning & I use the Calm app in the evening to wind down. I just purchased the tagged audiobook this weekend as I‘ve heard lots of good things.
3. Setting healthy ⬇️
Eclectic reading mode lately. Top left is quite good with solid evidence-based suggestions—not your typical self-help. Top right is another in my dystopian choices. Bottom left is IRL book group and just meh for me. Bottom right was excellent and disturbing, but nothing I haven‘t heard before.
p.s. May dip my toe in Litsy again … moving away from Meta and mega billionaires but missing community online
Finished up this audiobook during work today. I didn‘t do too many of the exercises but I loved the message the author conveyed and the tools provided to help you actually care for yourself. There was one part in particular that resonated with me - talking about how you‘re not entitled/deserving of help/charity/whatever because other people have it worse. I do that all the time. So yeah makes you self-aware about things and how to change it
There were some parts that I loved. Realizing that most things labeled as self- care is just more stuff to schedule or find time for when most people don‘t have extra time. I like the idea of pushing back on oppressive systems to enforce change because of course it benefits the larger system. Being more gentle with your self talk. I liked that she mentioned working with a parent that has a disabled child & the stress of it. I just wish there was
Oh Chrissy, what a wonderful self-care/housewarming/Christmas package!! 💖💖💖 Thank you!! Everything is so perfect, and hyggeligt and thoughtful. And the card is so beautiful - did you make that? So excited for everything!

my favorite book of the past few years made NPR‘s list too! sharing link in case anyone else wants to see their top picks! https://apps.npr.org/best-books/#view=covers&year=2023
I think this book is a helpful tool to start rebuilding a life that will NOT burn you out, although I wish it had gone into more detail about how to LIVE with the tools, instead of just starting with the tools, but maybe that will be in a second book. I also liked all of the exercises in the book, and will use those to help reshape my life (hopefully) so it‘s more happy.
3.5/5 an east to approach book, good for people with stress and burn out
My dear friend @Chrissyreadit sent me this lovely book because I‘ve been overdoing it lately 😅 my brain is picky post post-concussion syndrome 🧠 I get migraines if I do too much— thankfully I have great friends who remind me to relax 😎
This Book was incredibly well written. There is the acknowledgement that Self Care is currently used as a currency of capitalism and privilege with Systemic issues holding people back from actually meeting physical, social and emotional needs. I felt the power in the statement “work life balance is not possible” and suddenly felt a burden of guilt i hold for never maintaining a work life balance adequately. 👇
Thanks for responding!
