Perth-set art fraud mystery written by a surgeon, with a clunky, unbelievable romantic sub-plot.
Bloodless. Bone dry. This is a good thing in a surgical wound, but in a novel? No thanks.

An art fraud mystery set in my hometown of Perth, which is always fun. The surgeon author taught me when I was an intern. Unfortunately he writes like a surgeon - dry, precise, bloodless - which detracted from the overall story for me.

Just finished in time for book club tomorrow. I enjoyed the mention of places I know well here in Perth. I worked out early where the story was going but not how it would be resolved.
The author was taught by my uncle . Author now well know doctor in his field in Perth. He has operated on my uncle, aunt and brother. Also helped set up a research foundation when my aunt and uncle died.
An ok read but think he should stick to medical books.
This debut novel by a Perth surgeon was ok. Reasonably well-written in a fairly bland, some may say, surgical style 😝. A somewhat engaging mystery about the origins of a painting. I enjoyed reading a book set in Perth and Melbourne, as I‘ve lived in both cities. #bookclubread
#upnext My final read for the school holidays. Back to work Monday. This is a bookclub read, chosen by a friend who lives in the suburb where the book is set, North Perth, Western Australia. My hometown of Melbourne also features.
