Avery‘s future changes over night when she finds out a billionaire leaves her nearly his entire fortune. Why? To receive her inheritance she must stay at Hawthorne house for one year. It‘s filled with puzzles, codes and riddles and four brothers who are dangerous and thought they would inherit their grandfathers fortune.
Avery will have to play the game if she wants to survive.
A fast paced mystery story which I found hard to put down!
I may be one of the last to read this 😂
The inheritance games was a fun and entertaining experience. The chapters were short and had something new with every page that continuously adds to the plot. Avery Grambs, the main protagonist of this tail, started with nothing and then is given the entire inheritance of a billionaire in Texas. She is told to inherit the entire fortune she has to live in the Hawthorne house for a year. The Hawthorne family has four grandsons to the billionaire.
4 Stars • Avery Grambs, a high school senior, inherits a billionaire's fortune from Tobias Hawthorne, a man she never met. She must live in his mansion with his four grandsons—Nash, Grayson, Jasper, and Xander—while solving puzzles to uncover why she was chosen. The book explores family secrets, rivalry, and Avery's journey to understand her unexpected legacy, leaving many mysteries for subsequent books in the series.
This was a fun, quick read. Sort of reminded me of a toned down, YA version of Dan Brown‘s Robert Langdon books. The short chapters & a plot filled with puzzles & riddles made me race through this one. On to book #2!

To catch up on my daily prompts this week here‘s a book with a #Green & #Gold cover.💚💛
🌼I always re-watch Harry Potter but I really need to read the books so I'm on a movie ban so it forces me to finally read them.
🪻My favorite game was probably checkers

A fun little read. Lots of the plot were predictable and the writing style was very mediocre, but I had fun while reading and the idea is quite nice!
This was a fast-paced thrill of a book, with a very twisty puzzle to solve and lots of mystery to dig into. Avery is a good blend of naive, yet suspicious; kind, yet a little selfish; curious, but surprised accepting of things she is told. The Hawthorne brothers are a riot of personalities, but I think I liked Xander best. I also really enjoyed the ending, which was less a cliffhanger and more a new puzzle to think about. Loved it!
Dug this one out of the TBR (literally, there was almost an avalanche!) for my next read. A little deadly competition seemed like a summer read for some reason😂 Brains r weird lol.
Loved the concept. It reminded me of Knives Out in some ways with the family drama and the fortune and the outsider. Really cool concept and not at all what I expected. This was definitely fun and I‘m excited to see what‘s next. If did get a little slow toward the end which is why it wasn‘t quite 5 stars for me.
The Inheritance Games by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. 5,6/10 rating. This book promised a story full of twists and riddles. However it was mostly the story of a millionaire. Not really good for me
Has anyone read these? Bought them at Target today because they had buy 2 get 1 and they sounded good.
#ItTakesAllKinds Day 11 LoveTriangle
Unpopular opinion maybe but I didn't actually like the love triangle in this series. I also didn't like the one in Twilight, Mortal Instruments or The Summer I Turned Pretty. Maybe I just don't like love triangles 🤷♀️

I really liked this one! I‘m not surprised teenagers are keen to read it. Lots of decoding and deciphering clues that will keep you guessing and interested. As a side note, I particularly liked one of the minor characters whose parents are strict about her use of bad language. Her unique way around this kept me chuckling.
Just WOW!! Do yourself a favor and start this series. You won't be disappointed.

A mysterious inheritance, riddles and puzzles, four charismatic brothers... this one was fun! The audiobook narration was fine, but she sounded older than the characters and I didn‘t love the accents/male voices she used. I think it will be a great TV show! 🎧
Recommended by my co-worker and fabulous librarian, this YA book is a great mystery full of puzzles & riddles. It is the first in a trilogy. A billionaire dies, leaving more than money behind. His spoiled heirs might even kill for it.
DUDE I LOVED THIS- can‘t really say much more because then i‘d be spoiling it but here are a couple things: he‘s a ten… but so is his brother. rags to riches over night- weird right? “never lose your heart to a hawthorne.”
So far-fetched, but so delicious! I read this so fast. I think the appeal here is that it plays on our fantasies of winning or inheriting mega money. What would you do if you were suddenly stupid rich? And it also does a decent job of highlighting the idea of the problems and responsibilities that come with great wealth.
This was a super quick read. It was cute and a good distraction to life :) Found the next one on Libby.
Thanks again @AkashaVampie
@AkashaVampie starting this gem while I get my tires done :) . Every time I come here I long for an older beetle :) but I do love my little bug
So far so good. I have been really enjoying this book and I'm moving on to the second one soon
Was pretty good. slow build-up, but other than that, really good
If your looking for a YA mystery book with subplots of a romance, this is the book for you! Love triangle trope 🔻
Why did it take me this long to read this book?!?! It truly does meet all the hype I‘ve heard about it. Avery‘s relationship with the Hawthorn boys is my favourite thing ever. These boys have my heart, Jameson, Nash, Grayson, and Xander. They are all magical creatures placed in human bodies. If the characters weren‘t enough, this mystery is mind bending and captivating. I am obsessed. These boys and their games have my heart.
Meh- I know this is YA but it felt rly young. I think I‘d have enjoyed it if I was a teen? Kinda silly as it is, and I didn‘t like any of the characters so 🤷🏽♀️
AMAZING🙀 Avery is the perfect main character and don‘t get me started on Jameson n Grayson😵
Despite the implausible premise, the first third or so of The Inheritance Games was good. It sucked me in by capitalizing on one of my childhood fantasies: a giant mansion with secret tunnels, book case doors, and essentially living in Scooby Doo world.
Once the love triangle started getting more prominent, I grew weary. The Emily sub plot felt a bit under developed and uninspired, too. Still, invested enough to check out the next one.
I enjoyed this book so much!!!! Now I need to read the next book. I loved the characters and the plot of the book. I rated this book a 4 out of 5 stars!!! This is the second book completed for the #RushAThon readathon hosted by @Andrew65
Why haven‘t I read this sooner?! Agh, so good! Amazing, intriguing characters with complex relationships filled with secrets and the plot just kept plotting! 😅 The short chapters make for a quick, fast paced read, full of mystery, a little romance, a LOT of tension. It kept me guessing, and set the next book up very nicely. Can‘t wait to keep buddy reading this series with @KateReadsYA 🤩 5/5
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was the most fun I've ever had reading a book! There are so many interesting characters, riddles, and even a dash of romance. It was hard to put this book down as I was trying to figure out clues and solve the game along with the characters. This was a buddy read with @BooksNBowls and I can't wait to start Book 2 next! 🕛🏆🧩🖼♟️✉️📚💰📸🗝🪜🔎
This YRCA book was a winner! I had a hard time putting it down. It was well paced and held my attention despite being written for a much younger audience I found myself picking it up any chance I got needing to know more about the mysterious Hawthorne family and the game that Avery has found herself at the center of. I‘m excited to get my hands on a copy of the next book but sadly will have to wait till it‘s available at my library :(
Finished the first one and moving on to this one. Loving these books!
I heard this author interviewed on a podcast so was intrigued to read the novel. I thought it started off way too slow and the suspense came in the last third. A good (though unrealistic) story, but not sure it's compelling enough to continue reading the series.
This book has been on my to-read-list for FOREVER. I never started it because, frankly, it intimidated me. But, oh, it‘s worth it. I absolutely devoured this book, reading it faster than I logically should have been able to during a test-heavy school week. Though I didn‘t necessarily LOVE the Hawthorne brothers, their personalities and characters generally were so well-written and interesting. I‘m definitely reading the next two!

“Where are you going?” I asked him. After everything it had taken to get to this point, he couldn‘t just walk away.
“To hell, eventually.”
“You don‘t know when to stop, do you, Heiress?” That didn‘t exactly feel like an indictment.
“I‘m tougher than I look.”
I didn‘t want to be the glass ballerina or the knife. I wanted to prove, at least to myself, that I was something.
Jameson may have been done with the game, but I wanted to win.
“You don‘t have to kiss me. You don‘t even have to like me, Heiress, but please don‘t make me do this alone.”
“I said she was delightfully vindictive,” Xander replied innocently.
“If I were a boy,” Thea told him with a Southern belle smile, “people would just call me driven.”
“Why do I have to tell a story?” I asked.
“Because if you don‘t tell the story, someone else will tell it for you.”
