Very predictable, and the author contradicted herself a couple times. One of my biggest pet peeves! That being said, I did like the story, magical realism, and setting. I thought the ending was satisfying. A nice vacation read, despite its issues.
Been sick the last few days, but I had enough energy to finish this book yesterday. I would read a bit, nap and then pick it back up.
Overall, I really liked this book and I would love to visit this little town! Even though it‘s like 60° and rainy in august.
Some of Emily‘s decisions baffled me but I thought this book was just great.
Great pick! #ALSpine #JoyousJanuary Book1 finished

Finally getting some books in for my January reads! Only gotten a couple of library books so far (waited a bit too long to get from library).
Purchased the top 2 from the bookstore, because the library didn‘t have them! #ALSpine
The Kingdom is my quiet YA pick for #Booked2023
If you love books and the magic that they bring into your life, run don‘t walk to get yourself a copy of this book! A love story to the written word and it had me hooked from the very first word! Absolutely loved and adored! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Emily's journey to discover the truth about her past, and create a new future for herself is inspiring. Her magical edits and the changes they bring show how things in life don't always go the way we hope they will.
I love the unique setting in Cascata on California‘s Lost Coast, it adds another layer to the events within the story.
I hope that this will become a series, as I would enjoy another adventure with Emily.

I wanted to get that part out of the way, simple and to the point. This was a fun read. I had the family dilemma figure out early, but it didn't matter, I still wanted to be on the journey. Plus, it never hurts, in my opinion, to put as many positive Jane Eyre references as possible in one book.
This is book one for April. Time to pick the next read for #ThingsInCommon . @Clwojick
#WaitingRoomReading while I wait to see why the check engine light on my car is on.
This is a warm magical realism book with a heavy dose of book love. A great cast of characters and a sweet plot make this a great example of the genre. The magical manuscript plot line didn‘t disappoint and the book also handled some more serious topics deftly. Overall such a good book - if the description sounds like your thing you won‘t be disappointed.

(Yes, I sing that to the tune of “it‘s magically delicious!” Thank you to Ellie Alexander, Sweet Lemon Press & @netgalley, for the opportunity to read Lost Coast Literary 📚 #lostcoastliterary #elliealexander #booksbrewsandbooze
A sweet little book for people who love books & magical realism & quirky towns on California‘s Lost Coast. Emily is just starting her dream career on her way to being a book editor in NYC when her estranged grandmother dies, leaving her a large Victorian in quirky Cascata. A stipulation of the will is that she must edit a trunk of “forsaken” manuscripts & she is shocked when the changes she makes in the books, play out in the lives of real⬇️
I was able to sneak in a quick 20 minutes reading time early this morning over my desk breakfast of fried rice with over-easy egg & an Iced Caramel Macchiato.
Started the tagged book, an #ARC from one of my favorite cozy mystery authors (Bakeshop Mysteries, Sloan Krause Mysteries) who is branching out into this book/literary inspired, magical realism stand-alone novel & her own publishing imprint. It‘s fun so far—I 💛 books about books.🤗📚
