4 ⭐Do you ever get bored of the same ham and Swiss on rye. . This cookbook not only explores the history of sandwiches, but some of the most unique things ever put on them and the recipes to make them. And of all the recipes I‘ve seen the one that sounds most intriguing is the cucumber pineapple sandwich. And the most WTF sandwich is probably the hotdog sloppy Joe‘s sandwich. Also trigger warning: this book is on the side of hotdogs are sandwiches.

Texreader Love that trigger warning! 3d

3 ⭐Having said that what I have read of this book I think it‘d be nice for like a public library collection, but I wouldn‘t add it to my own. It really didn‘t add anything to what I already knew, and I thought the parts about educating on color hue etc. were long and drawn out. This felt more like sitting through professors‘ class, then picking up a new hobby.

3 ⭐ This book is exactly what you get from the title. Our main character Sarah has never been kissed. She is a senior in high school and it is a very big deal to her and her friends. Her best guy friend makes a bet with her to kiss a random stranger. Sarah cannot say no to her friends‘ bets which gets her in a lot of trouble. Most of this book is Sarah feeling down or anxious about herself: I can‘t do this, I‘m too scared. There‘s two boys,

LibrarianRyan one she likes , one she asked to kiss who turn out to be brothers who live across the hall. This is meant to be a fun high school, quick graphic novel series. And it is. It feels very 90s teen comedy. The settings a little off. Mainly the time and the place. I‘m reading a galley so I didn‘t have a cover or any back matter. Part of it feels like it takes place in the 90s when characters use words like fo sho, OK byeeee, and a few others. 4d
LibrarianRyan But it also doesn‘t feel like it takes place in America. Not that it needs to, but I think those context clues would help in the story where it feels like there are holes. This is just book one, but this will progress exactly as the 90s team romcom did so. 4d

4 ⭐This is book 3 in the Peapod farm series. Winter has set in there‘s snow, firewood to collect, and farm chores to do. If you‘ve read the other two books in this series, there is nothing new but a deeper appreciation of Lucy and her family. I like the points where you can see the real artist‘s real hands as they draw the panel that you‘re seeing and how it‘s incorporated into the story. I also like how the author answers

LibrarianRyan questions about the end about characters that are considered not nice, or what it was like having sisters, etc. In a way it feels like an ending to the series but also not an ending, so we‘ll see where the author goes from here. I will say, I like her young readers graphic novels better than her adult stuff so I hope she continues to write for this group. 4d

2 ⭐The artwork reminds me of the Loud House. This is about a town known for its skateboard gangs or crews. A not-so-great crew of misfits are trying to level up and find a place to shred. The way this book is drawn makes the gang seem like they‘re from the movie Grease or from West Side Story rather than what most modern gangs are like. There is some narrative and in all honesty this book is boring. I am DNFing at 24%.

4 ⭐Boys Town Press has been getting some better authors. This book was a tad long all of Boys Town books are about learning a lesson. In this book, we have two little girls who come home from school. They were left a note of instructions and told to wait for Mom. When they skip part of the instructions, it causes a problem. They use this problem to learn a lesson. The illustrations are bright and colorful and will keep kids‘ attention.

rockpools Hi Ryan. Happy New Year! I‘m trying to give BBRC a go again - can I ask a quick question? In the later sections you distinguish between author celebrities and celebrity authors. In picture books, would you count both of these in the ‘Celebrities‘ 60%? I assume the intention was ‘celebrity authors‘, but I might need to expand my options!!! 23h
LibrarianRyan @rockpools yeah!!! The entention is celebrity authors but I know how hard they are (I checked out like 200 this holiday). It‘s why I brought down the percentage to 60% but u do u. 8h

3.5 ⭐This book is a bit of a bait and switch. It starts out with twinkle a star who is not very bright and is dim. She‘s ostracized and not allowed to join other groups because of how not bright she is. She goes off and finds her own way until the day an angel comes and says shine your light. Turns out she‘s a guide for the newborn king. I say this is a bait and switch because without reading the descriptions and based entirely on cover,

LibrarianRyan you would think this has to do something with twinkle twinkle little star not with the birth of Jesus. The story rhymes in is nice and I do like it. I don‘t like feeling tricked. My favorite thing about this book is the artwork. It‘s cozy and comforting and wrapped you up like a warm blanket. 4d

2 ⭐This book is overly long. The author does a decent job trying to rhyme but does not pay attention to the cadence. The story itself is fine but nothing new. The illustrations are not bad, but then the type set of the words and the way they‘re laid on top of the illustrations, not in bubbles, not in tone with the picture, but it as a field that has been erased , makes the book look self-published in a bad way.

2.5 ⭐Apparently this graphic novel is based on a movie. I have not seen the movie. The artwork in this book is lovely. However, the story is at times hard to follow. I think so much has been cut from the movie to make the book fit within a certain set of page numbers. Parts of the story are confusing, and it feels like we‘re missing pieces. Overall, the book is beautiful, but it was not as satisfying read.

Greta | Manon Steffan Ros
post image
Mehso-so

3⭐This was not the happiest book to start 2025 with. From the very beginning, we know that Greta is dead. We don‘t know why but the story is being narrated by her friend Shane. This story is of a girl who had a picture-perfect life on the surface, but a troubled family underneath. The story revolves around what happens after she dies. It‘s her friend Shane telling us about Greta about her friends and how all these interconnected stories take place

LibrarianRyan after she‘s gone. We do find out how and why Greta dies. Shane also breaks the fourth wall and starts blaming the readers. Which is an interesting tactic. I‘d be hard-pressed to say I liked this book, but I didn‘t hate it. If I was reading this, I might have DNFed it, but I was enjoying the audiobook. Which is odd as this is a slow book. The question of would I recommended to others maybe. Small chance but maybe. 4d

4.5 ⭐This is a sequel full speed to a crash landing. We follow the same characters just a little time after we left them. Ada cannot be found at a fancy gala on one of the Earth ready to pull a giant heist. Ryan‘s not far behind her. While the rest of the crew is not with him, he has a new team and his goal is to get back what Ada took and prevent her from stealing anything else. The fate of the original earth is on the line.

LibrarianRyan Ada is snarky. She was snarky in the first book, but she‘s more snarky in book too. This is the type of snarky that is fun. She feels like she could be your best friend. Her chemistry with the Ryan character is spot on and I love that. This book is not a romance that has romantic elements. there is no spice in this book just steam, but it‘s just right to let us in to the finale. Book 3 needs to get here faster.

We have two young girls, one whose grandmother lives at an assisted living facility and another whose grandfather is looking at living in the assisted living facility. They are both adopted. 2 ⭐ I wanted to like this. I like the previous book in this series. In this book, we have a woman constantly worried about her weight. When she wakes up as a vampire Hunter, she ends up weighing more because it‘s muscle but constantly worried about she put on all this weight in these ounces… it got exhausting. I‘m sure there‘s a good story in there someplace as the first book was fantastic.

LibrarianRyan But that character also had to get over this hump of I like myself. I think the reason I find this one so annoying is that she was mad she was getting thinner and looking better but the scale said more. This is supposed to be about hunting vampires and falling in love with one. But the beginning was just so blahhhhh, as if the character wants you to hate them. Therefore, this was a DNF. 1w

3.5 ⭐ Climbing the cornfield three takes us to a cult. This cult feels like an Amish society. They worship Frando and there was just weird crap that goes on. Like cannibalism and other things. There are a lot of leftover questions from this book. I know there‘s going to be a book for but this book barely connects to the other too. It does connect, but it‘s getting out there. It‘s like when Freddie met Jason in space.

LibrarianRyan They took a step too far. I didn‘t mind this book and I still love the series, but I need to see what happened next and I need all the holes filled. Like where the body comes from. How does it have the psychedelic effect. Lots and lots of questions 1w

4 ⭐ Killjoy takes us back to the world of a good girls ‘s guide to murder. This is a prequel story that tells us when our main character decided they were gonna look into this murder. It all starts with a how to host a murder party thrown by a friend. This was a novella put out for world book night, and it was a nice story to the series. I didn‘t like book number three so revisiting the main character from book number one was perfect.

4 ⭐This book is hard. It‘s about a child that continuously spends a lot of time in the hospital. And how they feel going between the hospital and regular school. How they feel they have to keep things separate or be like other children and try to forget their hospital time. But the story is useful. First off, the note from the author in the beginning about hospital kids being a little different and needing the public to understand that things

LibrarianRyan are different for them is lovely and tearjerking. In the story of the character finds that it‘s OK to have different experiences. It also teaches others that you should be aware of those experiences and not afraid but willing to try new things. 1w

3 ⭐ A ghost loves being in the meadow, making friends collecting flowers, etc. Their dream job is to take over the haunting of a very important castle. Upon landing their dream job they do it and they love it until they realize that they‘re losing part of themselves. They need to go back to the meadow. I understand the allegory of this book. That sometimes what you dream of doing is not actually right for you. But I‘m not sure if it‘s the phrasing

LibrarianRyan or if it‘s the way it‘s written. This book makes it seem like Wolfgang went back to the meadow, but took some of the haunting stuff with them When I think a better message might have been to be able to do a little bit of both. 4 ⭐This is a fun rhyming book. The best part of this book is probably the illustrations. There is so much to talk about. First off the dog is done in paint while the cat is done in colored pencil. And the two are separate, but together on the page. As the story progresses, or the animals find safety, their art forms merge creating a third form of art within these books. The way the author has welded the art in this book to tell a story of the
