I‘m finally getting last round of #LMPBC book back to its owner! Sorry it took so long, but I added a treat to help sweeten its delay! I enjoyed this fast paced read and would love to see the Tundar landscape! I did get annoyed with Sena‘s actions but I‘ve come to believe that this is because I‘m old as dirt and have to really think outside myself to get some adolescent characters. I‘ll give this 3.5/5⭐️Thanks for sharing!

LibrarianRyan I agree. And I still have your book in entered hiding season and have so much mandatory reading I am not very far. I can send it back now if you want me to. 12mo
Readergrrl @LibrarianRyan Keep it until you can read it! It was a great book and I think you‘d like it! I‘m a firm believer in No-Pressure-November (and every other month too) and it would be fairly hypocritical of me to be mad over a late book. 🤣🤣🤣 12mo
KateReadsYA Awww thank you! I'm glad you read it. (: 12mo
TheAromaofBooks Yay!! I had some mixed feelings about this one as well. What can you do - kids these days! 😂 😂 😂 12mo

4 ⭐This was not a book that was originally on my fantasy sci-fi list. The cover is interesting, but it didn‘t grab my attention and say “you have to read me now”. This was picked by my book club and I was greatly surprised. I did enjoy this book and I‘m happy to have read it. In this book Sena lives on a planet that is entirely tundra. Meaning, the whole thing is frozen. However, this planet has a plethora of EXO carbon, which is an

LibrarianRyan element that everybody needs for almost everything. However, the permanent frozen condition of the planet makes the mining of this EXO carbon extremely hard. Life on this planet is hard. If the weather doesn‘t get to you then the ion storms that take out anything electronic will. The one thing this planet is known for is its great race from the main living commune out to the mining field. Apparently, anyone who can complete the race can get 13mo
LibrarianRyan permission to mind the exo carbon. In this book, we follow a young girl named Sena. She was born on this planet to a mother who is an immigrant and another mother, who is version of native. The two types of people don‘t normally get along, so both have been shunned. Both have also died in the middle of a race leaving Sena defend her self for the last five years. What Sena really wants is to get off this planet, but the only way she can do that is 13mo
LibrarianRyan find a way around her heritage, to make enough money to escape. But when your life is mainly pickpocketing, the mob bosses, casino and fight club, saving enough to live and escape, are not an option. Sena ends up in trouble with the big mob boss, and has to take a job saving his genetically pure wolf. Volvenwolves are the predominant creatures on this planet that is a combination of cloning and what we would think of as earth wolves that make the 13mo

LibrarianRyan them superior to living in a tundra. To have a pure wolf just for fighting is an anomaly and this Wolf has been hurt and it‘s up to Sena to fix it. All in all the stories a pretty decent one. It‘s almost a reimagining of White Fang, or at least feels very much like White Fang would have felt 100 years ago. And it‘s an interesting and fast paced book. There is a sequel but the sequel takes the main character and the wolf off the planet, and 13mo
LibrarianRyan focuses on a minor character from book one. I‘m not sure if that makes the sequel more interesting or more likely not to pick up. My mind hasn‘t been made up. Overall, I liked this book as a standalone. I thought it worked well. It was an interesting take, but for someone who‘s lived on the frozen tundra I was ready for this to be over. I can remember being cold in the 50 trees in the forest because nothing can grow under that cold. 13mo
LibrarianRyan So overall I like this book but I didn‘t love it but I would still recommend it to people. 13mo
Gissy I own that one🤗 13mo

Meg Longs debut Novel is packed full of adventure. On Tundar, the frozen planet Sena must battle nature's dangerous elements as well as the people who inhabit it if she wants to survive and escape. My favorite thing about this book was the found family! I didn't want it to end but luckily there is a second book. This one can definitely be read as a stand alone! #LMPBC #ROUND18 @suvata

KateReadsYA @TheAromaofBooks @LibrarianRyan @Readergrrl I'll be sending my pick out to @TheAromaofBooks next week. I hope yall love this one as much as I did! 1y

Science Fiction with a Dystopian vibe
Found family
Human/Wolf-dog bonding
Dog-sled Race
I kept seeing a lot of mediocre ratings for this but I really liked it, a lot. The planet she has created here is vivid, striking, and even slightly eerie. I was fully into the story and I‘m fairly certain there is going to be another book…and I don‘t have a problem with that.

A Jack London feel with a strong female protagonist on a harsh & fairly violent planet. A slow starting, adventurous dystopian sci-fi with a tense narrative centered on an icy planet where an annual, deadly sled race takes place. Great character development. A lot of tense activity & some serious atmosphere. Strong social commentary. Some slight lapsing of logic, but otherwise great. I'm a fan and I'm impressed by this debut.

Thank you #Netgalley & #WednesdayBooks for providing a copy for an honest review.

The way Meg Long describes the environment communicates the gritty beauty of our characters' surroundings and the fierce animals that survive there, including themselves. It‘s the right amount of emotion and action; inspiring and survival.

An action packed, atmospheric, dystopian, survivalist story...with wolves. This debut was everything I hoped it'd be. I could not put this book down! I like that this story was dystopian but not fantasy. I like fantasy but was glad not to have it here. I got to immerse myself in the ice cold world & its characters without having to learn a magic system. Also, no unnecessary love story to distract from the true plotline! So rare & so appreciated.

KateReadsYA This sounds awesome. 3y

Oh, I loved this debut YA fantasy novel! Set on a distant & icy planet, Sena longs to escape to a different planet after her mothers‘ deaths in the annual race. She vows to have nothing to do with it but can only get money by stealing…when she crosses a powerful mob boss, she‘s forced to start making connections once more. Her relationship with the wolf shines- Sena may make poor choices, but this adventure shows her grow! I hope there‘s a sequel!

Overall I enjoyed this YA adventure featuring Sena, a 17 yo who lives on an ice planet which boasts one big event yearly, a dangerous wolf-sled race across a frozen tundra to reach deposits of sought-after exocarbon. She is orphaned at 12 when her mothers are killed during the race. She finds herself unwillingly drawn into the race and ends up fighting for her and her teammates‘ lives. Filled with great geographical descriptions and exciting ⬇️

robinb adventures, this is a story of resilience, courage and finding one‘s family. It‘s also a great story of the bond between human and animal. It was a bit of a slow starter, and I did get frustrated with Sena at times for committing the same mistakes over and over again, but I found it a very good debut. 4/5⭐️ #coverlove 3y

Refusing to participate in the race that killed her mothers, Sena is forced to steal enough money to escape her ice bound planet. Things get even more complicated when she finds herself in debt to a crime boss.

So atmospheric! I could feel the chill of the planet & Sena‘s desperation to escape. The world building was great, and Sena was a complicated and intriguing character. A bit slow to start, but really finds its pace 1/2 through. 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

This book is so exciting. It's entertaining and there's never a dull moment. Sena lives on a frozen planet and she basically scrapes by as a pickpocket. When she accidentally lands inside a cage with a wolf, everything changes. She and the wolf are basically in some sort of danger from then on.
