There was an over use of the words ‘f-boy‘ which got so repetitive. It took a while to get into the book but the second half was much more pleasurable to read.

pickSuch a sweet read about friendships and first loves. Kate and her bestie, Andy, share everything, including crushes. This all changes when a joint crush has them choosing sides and making rules. I loved how they consistently put their friendship first. All of it made me feel like a teen falling in love for the first time all over again. I already want to reread this one.

Who started to like this book because of the cool friendships, but now wonders HOW there‘re still over a hundred pages left? Also me!
Seriously, y‘all. I like Kate‘s friend-group, but the stereotypes are intense and I don‘t care how the crush turns out and maybe it‘s the lack of sleep talking but I DO NOT UNDERSTAND why this story requires 387 pages instead of, like, 263.

So, I started KATE IN WAITING last night, and it immediately ran up against my current low tolerance for American high school stories. Blah. It‘s tough to say whether my great love of the theatre will carry me through the USian tendency to reduce stuff to stereotypes (there‘s a BIG anti-jock vibe here) and those nicknames for grades that grate on me like whoa.
pickOk y‘all probably know I‘m an absolute sucker for books about musicals at this point, but Once Upon a Mattress being the musical in this book was pure nostalgia for me. OUAM was the the show that introduced me to the community that is musical theater in middle school. I played Winnifred and it was such a fun time for me. I really liked the emphasis on friendship over the romantic relationships in this story. #BookSpinBingo #20in4

This was between a pick and a so-so for me. I typically really enjoy her books, but this is honestly my least favorite so far. It was kinda cute, although predictable. I did really love Kate and Andy‘s friends , and loved that that was the main focus of the book. All the “fuck-boy” “F-boy” stuff was repetitive and annoying though.
Gotta love it when your current read mentions your favorite all time book to movie adaptation! 💖

Weekend road trip.. kids playing in the hotel pool. Even though I had to search nearly every hotel in the city to find an open one, life is starting to feel a bit normal again and I‘m even on a bit of a reading streak!!

pan⭐️⭐️ 400 pages of utter predictability: a high school love triangle between two BFFs and a swoon-worthy guy from theater camp who is now *SURPRISE* the new kid at their school. What ever will they do? 🙄 My biggest complaint was the use of the term “fuck boy” and “f-boy” by the protagonist in reference to athletes/popular kids. It was truly gratuitous and added nothing to the story. I usually adore Albertalli‘s writing, but this was not good.

I don‘t know if it‘s just coincidence but I‘ve seen a lot of love for Tangled on social media recently. Personally, I love it....and I think it‘s better than Frozen...*gasp* 😱
Anyway, I‘m halfway into this book and LOVING it so far!
I‘m sorry that I‘ve been MIA lately. I honestly haven‘t been reading anything since my husband‘s stroke. He fully recovered, but I think I‘m still a little traumatized from it lol
Also, both of my parents (who I‘m close to) had surgeries in the last few weeks, so I‘ve been busy helping them out. But I just bought these two new fun looking books in hopes of getting out of my slump. 💖🤞
pickA fun teen rom-com. I had actually never read any of Albertalli's previous work but really enjoyed Love, Simon so was excited when I received this ARC. It was a nice, light book that I genuinely looked forward to winding down with at the end of a long work day. I can easily see this becoming Netflix movie someday in the future.
