Molly Fader writes complicated women and family secrets SO WELL. I do wish she‘d inject some more of her humour into her writing since she is HILARIOUS in person.

The sacrifices we make for the ones we love. The choices we make out of sheer necessity that we cannot foresee it's possible ramifications. The secrets that can erode a foundation. A lovely heartbreaking story of forgiveness and reforging of family bonds. Thank you @cocoreads and #NewYearWhoDis for this wonderful pick.

Set in my home state of Michigan, The Bitter and Sweet of Cherry Season by Molly Fader is a sweet story about overcoming the bitterness of the past. When Hope arrives at her aunt's house late in the night, sporting a black eye and with her young daughter in tow, the three generations of women come together, grow together, and uncover past secrets as they work their way towards forging a better future for all of them. I truly enjoyed this book!

Hooked_on_books Where did you get cherries in November? They look amazing. 😍 4y
TheHeartlandBookFairy @Hooked_on_books I actually took that picture at least a month ago when I planned on reading the book but then, you know, life lol 😅 But darn it, now I want cherries! 😅 4y

There were indeed three generations of voices in this story and, at first, I wasn‘t too thrilled with the POV from Tink, Hope‘s daughter. Now, I‘m glad that it included Hope, Peg, and Tink as main characters with their own voice because they each added interest to not only their character but to the other characters as well. I ended up absolutely adoring them all and the relationship that was developed between them was memorable and endearing.
