Kids Deserve It
Kids Deserve It: Pushing Boundaries and Challenging Conventional Thinking | Todd Nesloney, Adam Welcome
3 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
What if learning was exciting? What if students felt important and empowered every time they walked into the building? What if parents looked forward to calls from their children's teachers and principals, instead of cringing when the school's number popped up on their phones? To Todd Nesloney and Adam Welcome, those aren't far-fetched what ifs; they can (and should) be a reality for every teacher, school, parent, and student. In Kids Deserve It!, Todd and Adam encourage you to think big and make learning fun and meaningful for students. While you're at it, you just might rediscover why you became an educator in the first place. Learn why you should be calling parents to praise your students (and employees). Discover ways to promote family interaction and improve relationships for kids at school and at home. Be inspired to take risks, shake up the status quo, and be a champion for your students. #KidsDeserveIt

So our admin bought every teacher copies of these books. I guess I'll read them but the blurbs and tables of content made my skin crawl. Why do so many educational books feel like a combination evangelism, get rich quick business manuals and pop psychology?

Have any #teachersoflitsy read these?

GingerAntics The tagged book makes me roll my eyes. Sorry. That‘s probably not the intended effect, but what teacher has time to call all the parents and praise the students? And what is that going to do to the parents? They‘ll probably think you‘re nuts. 6y
Sace @GingerAntics Amen! And right now I'm teaching quite a few students that really aren't a cute as they're mamas think they are 🙄 That's mean but it's been a long week. 6y
GingerAntics Totally understand. Sadly. 6y
Cheshirecat913 I am so with you. I am not sure how to put into words what I think about these books lately and Rob Clark and all the other gimmicks. I want to learn just good instruction techniques. 6y
Sace @Cheshirecat913 exactly! My classroom is not performance art. 6y
