Imagine a present day America — an alternate universe, so to speak — where when America was founded, it opted to set up its own monarchy, rather than set up a democratic country. What would the US be like with a royal family? One about to get its first-ever ruling queen?

The morning had dawned dreary and gray, with a mist that hung over the streets of the capital. It was, the media correspondents all agreed, appropriate weather for a funeral.

Beatrice Washington now rules America as queen, and while settling into her duties she must deal with the grief from losing her father and the pressures of marrying the supposed love of her life: Teddy. Princess Samantha now must assume her duties as heir and forgo her former happy and carefree life.

I have to say, I feel like this book just wanted to jam as may tropes in as possible. There was friends to lovers, forced proximity, fake dating, as well as a little bit of forbidden love. Eventually the number of them got tiring. I wished that there was more political drama. I would have five-starred a book just about Beatrice‘s struggles to be taken seriously as the first unwed queen of the US. 3⭐️

This book was an excellent continuation of the first. I love a perfect romantic ending but there was something with how this one ended that just made me love it more. It left the story open enough for the possibility of a 3rd book, while also concluding the storylines with enough room for curiosity about what will happen later. I adore this series!

The second book in the series...I didn‘t like it as much as the first book but it was still good. Always drama and politics when it comes to royalty.

I enjoyed this even more than the first book. While the book still gives off serious Gossip Girl vibes the way the female characters come into their own was great. I‘m looking forward to book 3. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5.

I didn‘t enjoy this one quite as much as the first, but I was surprised to find I really liked the ending. The author shakes things up and the plot was missing some of the chemistry of the first book, but I still enjoyed it. Nina seemed to take a backseat & Daphne was predictable, but I really enjoyed the sisters‘ connection.

“If, if, if. It frightened Beatrice a little, that the world was built on so many if‘s that decided people‘s fates.”

Book feels incomplete and lacking the purpose. Also, it felt so repetitive. Is this really a series conclusion? The ending is unsatisfying :)

AileenRR Agree; the ending did not feel complete at all 👎🏽 3y

I have been waiting to read this book since I finished American Royals last year. It was worth the wait. I loved how Bee developed the confidence that she needed to be queen with a man! I really hope that there is another book because I really want to know more about Bee, Samantha, Teddy, Marshall, Nina and Jefferson! Daphne is my least favorite character in the whole book!

This is my #doublebookspin for this month

Wow!! I am so thankful that I already had my impatient hands on this sequel for when I finished that cliffhanger of an ending of the first book!! The bulk of the action begins here six weeks later, and while I originally despaired that the plot turned away from my initial hopes, by the end, I totally loved this! New characters add to the fun and I appreciated the continued growth of the main characters. I hope this isn‘t the last we see of them!

Lovesbooks87 I need more too! I just finished it and I want to know more!!! 4y

I loved the first book and re-read it before starting this one.In Majesty,, Bee is the Queen of America, and we see her mature into the job. I feel like this story is incredibly timely as it addresses Racism, the Press in this country, and women's leadership roles.

The history geek in me adored this alternate timeline of America.
