Bk5 of July is done. Read as an audiobook on Scribd, I came to this after watching American Murder The Family Next Door on Netflix. I will never understand fathers or mothers who think killing their entire family will give them the freedom they want. Watching the videos of those gorgeous little girls then listening to what he did to them was heartbreaking. I hope the rest of his sorry life is a nightmare. #PickYourPoison #AudiobookChallenge2021👇

Solid crime read. I've been obsessed with this story since Shanann and the girls first went "missing". Glatt did his thing and dug deep into the lives and personalities of Chris and Shanann. There's been upset in the ways they have been portrayed but I think the "behind closed doors" personalities are ones we are always surprised to see. Who knows though ?‍♀️

What I didn't understand was the British narrator. Why?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The story of the shocking murders of Shanann, Bella, Celeste and Nico Watts. The author does a good job of giving us background information on everyone involved. Parts of this book were very hard to read because I cannot imagine this happening to my children or grandchildren. So much senseless loss.

This is a sad story. What could make someone do this? Horrible!

I'm going to try and limit myself to these 5 this month. I'm supposed to be being good😬

Emotionally, this is a tough read, but Glatt‘s The Perfect Father is well-researched and well-written. There are a few Britishisms (for example, “nappies”) that pulled me from the text but otherwise, a strong pick for true crime fans.

Ugh, I read a good amount of true crime, but this was just so incredibly heartbreaking. The sad thing is I don‘t think he‘s ever told the truth about what really happened. My heart goes out to the entire family, I have no words. It‘s a “pick” for me, just know it is hard to read 💔

This was heavy. And incredibly sad. I was fairly knowledgeable able this case, having followed it during the trial and watch documentaries about it. But reading the details of what Chris Watts did to him pregnant wife and daughters... wow. That man is a cold blooded monster.

Another book about Chris Watts?! Yes please! 🙋🏼‍♀️ Glatt has quite a few true crime titles under his belt, and I can tell this one is the most researched of the ones I‘ve read. Glatt has included so many small details about Shannan and Chris prior to the murders. It makes all the difference. The British narrator is throwing me off a bit though. 😂

While this was a well researched and detailed account of Chris Watts' slaughter of his family, I was uncomfortable with the portrayal of Shanann. There is no way to know exactly what happened in the privacy of their relationship, but I found it very odd how often Shanann was described in this book as controlling. (Cont. ⬇️)

True Stories is one of my favorite genres.

True crime story of Chris Watts who killed his wife, Shanann who was 3 months pregnant, their 2 daughters, Bella age 4 and Celeste age 3. It is not an easy read and a very shocking one as they appeared to be a happy loving family. The book is a timeline of how they deteriorated after economic, family and relationship problems. Shows how they lived beyond their means. But why did he do it? Wouldn‘t divorce have been an easier way out? Recommended.

Although #TrueCrime isn‘t a go-to genre for me, this book that provides a detailed look at the horrible murder of Shannan Watts, her two young daughters and unborn son at the hands of her husband is a horrifyingly engaging read. The author sticks to evidentiary facts, though there are a few moments that made me pause in an effort for balance. It‘s a heartbreaking story and I just wish that the author had explored even more into driving forces.

This true crime book doesn't come out until July, but there is something coldly fascinating about this family annihilator case that kept me up late, binge reading. Watts had plenty of options to leave his family, but the fact that he chose to kill his pregnant wife and 2 little girls, and then later, when caught, try to blame his wife, is truly chilling and disturbing. I'm glad he was caught, but there's really no punishment fitting. #truecrime

I have been waiting for this book to come out, and I am so glad I got it on NetGalley! Make sure you check this one out in July! There is not a boring paragraph! I will be checking out more of this authors books! *Book 8 of #quarantinereads !
