Littens! Unknown content creator for this mini, off-beat poem. Anyone know who credit belongs to?
EDIT: This was authored by Lucille Clifton. Huge thanks to @TheBookHippie for helping find this!!! 🎉❤️💃🏻
It‘s still potent.

I‘ve been reading this collection all month, a section each day, and I love that I got to read the entire collection as one and see all the themes that ran through her life. Clifton‘s style is direct, which makes it easy to connect to on an emotional level, and can also make it gut wrenching depending on the subject, like her poems on sexual abuse by her father that just cut to the quick. #Nonfiction2022 #ImASurvivor @Riveted_Reader_Melissa
This popped up in my reading today and seemed very apt for the discussion we‘re having on the #1619GroupRead right now
It was #hurdle to find a poem for today's challenge! But this poem kinda fits. Plus, I love Clifton's poetry!

☕️ I honestly and truly wish that I could say that I part with books after reading...that I have tons of bookshelf space because books aren‘t allowed to take up permanent residence. But stay they do and they get cozy with one another and multiply.
☕️ My most wished for book for the longest time is the tagged poetry collection.

Took a long time to get through, because I kept stopping to write down poems, and because I couldn't stop myself halfway through from returning to the beginning and reading it all again. Her series of religious poetry, reimagining biblical figures, were gorgeous, even though I'm not religious. Her poems about cancer were amazing - esp “leukemia as white rabbit“. I read this as an ebook but will definitely be buying a paper copy to love to pieces.
I am really enjoying Lucille's poetry. Beautiful and soulful.
Went canoeing with my husband and brought some poetry. Blessing the Boats was the first poem and it was lovely and meant to be. 😊

WCW...Lucille Clifton. Her poetry fills and props me up like a shot of whiskey. The very top edge got cut off but it's all good.
