pickThis book surprised me. I had no idea where the story was going. Told from multiple POVs, we come to know a group of residents who live in Nightingale Point, a low income housing estate. The book focuses on events before, during and after a tragedy strikes the community. I was surprised this was longlisted for The Women‘s Prize as this book felt more YA to me. Another trip to the library yesterday got me these two. I am a bit behind on my library reads, I still have to read the last two I have. #tbr
Fun and uplifting - my niece was supposed to get married 1 May, now rearranged to 4 Sept, this will be exactly a year after the above pic on her hen party in Portugal. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Fave read in May was the tagged book closely followed by Hamnet.

pickI am determined to read the Longlist nominees for the #womensprize this year, and this is another book done! I really liked how many similarities where drawn to the Grenfell tragedy in London, and how the author focused on the characters and on what happened after the event. Not something we get to witness a lot, since the news have long traveled off by then.

This book is making me think about how people differently experience traumatic events.
Book set in a tower block, lots of interconnecting lives.
Mary's husband has been gone for 18 months, and not for the first time.
If only we told this to the kids who need to hear it more often, we might save them a fair amount of pain.
pickA powerful tale of a people living in a London tower block, whose lives are changed forever after a shocking incident. (Don‘t do what I did and look up reviews elsewhere beforehand as there are spoilers in relation to what happens)
I liked the way that the varying characters give so many different POVs. There are no easy answers and the book ends without everything being tied neatly in a bow, which lends reality to the novel.
