I really enjoyed this! I thought it was going to be straight forward for some reason but it was a little twisty! The premise is really clever and a little scary. Felix, the MC, is such a well-drawn character. I don‘t think I‘ve read this author before and after this I‘d definitely read more of her work.

An elderly widower, who is with a volunteer group that helps terminally ill people ‘take their own lives‘, finds himself on the run from the police. Although the subject matter is a serious one, there is much humour in the novel. The characters are likeable and endearing, especially the older ones. If you‘re a fan of The Thursday Murder Club series, you‘ll enjoy this.

Not much reading done recently, as I have been binge watching some TV detective series. Marcella, a British nordic noir series, kept me at the edge of my seat - but I stopped at season 2, too much grimness and violence to continue). Then Happy Valley, absorbing and fantastic - I highly recommend!

Anyway started the tagged book. Hope it‘s good, as I liked Rubbernecker and Snap.

#12Booksof2022 🎶 On the third day of Christmas my true love read to me, a warm witty mystery 🎶

For my twelve, I‘m highlighting my favorite audiobooks of the year. Great books that were all the more enjoyable thanks to outstanding narration &/or production.

A bit disappointed with this one, loved the other two books I've read by Bauer but this one was just a bit flat 😑

At first glance this mystery may seem dark, but it is actually quite heartwarming and humorous. Gave me some Thursday Murder Club and A Man Called Ove vibes.

Felix Pink, a 75 year old widower, volunteers as an Exiteer helping terminally ill patients end their own lives. Things do not go as planned on a particular job prompting an investigation.

This was an Earphones Award winner from last year. Excellent narration by Rupert Degas. Great listen.

This was a very entertaining novel and the narration for the audio is outstanding! Felix, one of the main characters, has a bit of Ove Lindahl about him. The “who dunnit” plot got a little convoluted and far fetched in the end, but that didn‘t detract from the enjoyment.

Will have my eye out for more from Bauer!

I've never read a murder mystery full of such heart and humor and kindness. 🤔 It was an intriguing mystery with a gentle, kindly MC, compassionate cops, and various quirky characters. This is my first by this author but definitely won't be the last!

This is a fun read about an elder man, who incidentally commits a murder and wants to deal with that in a decent way. Completely different from Snap, which I liked better, but an enjoyable read nevertheless.

Such a great book unlike anything I‘ve read before which makes a nice change with a mystery. Really liked the main character, some good humour and the ending was well executed

I read this on kindle ... this is a copy I got for my daughters birthday, she loves old people , especially old men .. so I think she will like this one. Such a pretty green book

Absolutely brilliant! My first 5 ⭐️ read of 2021. Bauer writes excellent plots, she‘s my favourite crime fiction writer.

This will be compared to The Thursday Murder Club (which I enjoyed) due to the age of the protagonist and I don‘t know if it will be as successful but it should be because it is the better book.

Felix Pink is an Exiteer, a stranger who sits with a terminally ill person whilst they commit suicide. This time the wrong person ends up dead, and Felix is now wanted for murder.

I requested this as I enjoyed Snap by the author, but I found this MC to be rather dull & I expected it to take a darker turn, given the subject matter, than it did. 2⭐

Just finished this one and it turned out to be an excellent read! An older main character, just the right dose of humor, crime with a twist... I definitely want to read more of her stories now.
