Fifty-Fifty | Steve Cavanagh
Alexandra Avellino has just found her father's mutilated body, and needs the police right away. She believes her sister killed him, and that she is still in the house with a knife. Sofia Avellino has just found her father's mutilated body and needs the police right away. She believes her sister, Alexandra did it, and that she is still in the house, locked in the bathroom. Both women are to go on trial at the same time. A joint trial in front of one jury. But one of these women is lying. One of them is a murderer. Sitting in a jail cell, about to go on trial with her sister for murder, you might think that this is the last place she expected to be. You'd be wrong.

Yet another good book in the series. This one negative is that it‘s pretty easy to figure out which sister is the killer, and she is a truly violent psychopath. She even kills someone close to Eddie. 😢 If you live outside the US, I highly recommend this series. (I‘m using a VPN to read the last few books because for some silly reason, they‘re not available here.) #SeriesLove2024 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

“TWO SISTERS ON TRIAL FOR MURDER. THEY ACCUSE EACH OTHER.
WHO DO YOU BELIEVE?

'911 what's your emergency?'

'My dad's dead. My sister Sofia killed him. She's still in the house. Please send help.'

'My dad's dead. My sister Alexandra killed him. She's still in the house. Please send help.'

One of them is a liar and a killer.

But which one?”

BookBr Okay, this really sounds interesting! 11mo
deeannloso @BookBr The whole series is really good so far. 11mo

So good! Another addition to the Eddie Flynn series and it was a page turner. Two sisters, each on trial for the murder of their father, each with their own defense teams. Who's lying? 👏🏽

PS: it never really becomes easier to say goodbye to what has quickly become my favorite view at this beautiful getaway in Playa del Carmen. Tomorrow it's back to reality 🥴

Me: I'm going to have to read something nice and peaceful and non-violent this Winter...

#roll100 : bah ha haaaaa not today, RaeRae

#TBRtarot : I'm with the dice

This was another ludicrous but entertaining page turner featuring con-man-turned-badass-lawyer Eddie Flynn. Irresistible premise. Way too much blood & guts. Cartoonishly evil villain (again.) Couldn't put it down & spent an evening relating the plot and my theories to Mum 🙈😅

⭐⭐⭐⭐

swishandflick I love his books! Also awww to that sweet kitty's face!! 😻 2y

It really is 50/50 🤔

I am being naturally led to one conclusion, which makes me think that it's the opposite conclusion, but then I may be being double-bluffed...

This is my second Steve Cavanagh and once again, I was lured in by a tantalising premise. No idea which way this one is gonna go!

CBee Sounds super twisty - just the way I like em 😊 2y

#tbrtarot 2023 kicks off with a book that starts with a number... @CBee

Here are some from my TBR shelves... also one of my fave books ever meets the criteria (One Day) and of course The 7 1/2 deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle was great fun.

I will be reading Fifty-Fifty though, because it was rolled on #roll100. Such a coincidence means I have to get it read 😉😋

CBee Sounds like a good one! 😊 2y

A two-day page turner sort! V enjoyable and kept me guessing right to the end. Would recommend it for a v exciting kitten read if you (like me) sometimes consecutively read too many heavy/ deep books and need a refreshing, sharp crime thriller w a little spice of family drama 🎭 to keep your brain wheel greased x

With this twisty thriller in which 2 sisters call 911 at the same time alleging the other has just murdered their father. Eddie Flynn is called to defend one of them .
Off on holiday now for a week with a suitable pile of bks.

TrishB Enjoy 👍🏻 2y

I think I finished this book literally in two days; the suspense of not knowing who the killer was, and the curiosity, made it easy to read it in a short span of time. However I was disappointed to find out that the murderer had been the person I had guessed from very early on; the clues were so obvious that I had initially thought the author had done it on purpose, and that there was going to be a massive plot twist. Still great though!

Great storyline with lots of twists, some quite predictable. I really enjoyed the way it was written with ‘she‘ being used as a disguise for the murderer. I‘ll definitely be looking to read more of Steve Cavanagh‘s work, as I couldn‘t put this down.

Danielle145 I recommend thirteen, it‘s so good! 3y

Outstanding. I am so in love with this book. Intricate and gripping storyline, fantastic characters and so many twists and turns. One that Bear 🐻 picked for me and I couldn't get enough of this book. One of my top reads of all time. Would recommend to anyone who loves an amazing crime novel. I can't wait to read more by this author. Fantastic 📖👌💖🤓

💛💛💛💛 I love a good crime read and although I found the twists fairly predictable, I couldn't put it down. I enjoyed the use of the disguise of 'she' to hear from the murderers perspective. Not as good as Thirteen but a strong plot and well written!

I recently finished two of Cavanaugh‘s books and enjoyed them greatly. Sadly this one was a bit of a letdown. The premise of the story is great and the characters are well-developed, but the story felt predictable from the beginning. I think I might put this author down for a little while and give myself a break in hopes of being able to read some of his other books with fresh eyes.⭐️⭐️ 1/2

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join the fun if you want.

Two sisters accuse each other of murder. Who is innocent? Who is the psycho? This was a solid thriller that kept me guessing. 👍 I defo need a break from thrillers now tho, does anyone else kinda enjoy them but also, kinda find them a bit unsatisfying? 🤷‍♀️

Leniverse Yes, I enjoy one once in a while but it's not among my fave genres. 4y

Good. Love the twists and turns that this book brings it left me guessing right till the end. Even though this is book 5 of The Eddie Flynn series, and some of the characters refer back to other cases it doesn't hamper the story as it is easy to read as a stand alone.

Recommended on the BBC Book show Between the Covers. I seriously think that show is bad for my TBR as this is the 3rd book I have bought because of this show! 😂😂

squirrelbrain I bought this for my husband for Christmas, as a result of the show too! I‘m sure they never said it was part of a series though.... 4y
Birdsong28 @squirrelbrain Yes I only found that out when I entered it on GoodReads, I was a bit put off to start with as I was worried that I wouldn't be able to read it because of the characters having history but it doesn't seem to get in the way as it is about the case really. 4y
squirrelbrain That‘s good news then - and maybe, if he likes it, he might read the whole series! 4y

So good! I love the Eddie Flynn series and this was another cracker. Two sisters accuse each other of their father‘s murder. Eddie acts for Sofia. Eddie‘s friends Harry & Harper return & there‘s a great new character, Kate. Keeps you guessing all the way through & Cavanagh‘s knowledge of how lawyers (& courts) work makes it ring true ydespite the heightened reality of a thriller. Twisty & unputdownable with a satisfying ending.

Cathythoughts Great review & reminds me I have this in kindle! I loved 13..... he‘s so good at this page turner stuff 5y
