pickThe son of Daniel's assistant minister in the neighbouring parish is killed in the chapel of a disused WWII airbase in what looks like a ritual murder.
As with the first book, I enjoyed the slice of life scenes before and after the murder far more than the mystery itself because again the solution seemed to come out of nowhere. I will wishlist the next one because it's not out yet, but I'm in no hurry.
Audrey Clement did not flinch when half a bread roll, thrown with force from one side of Lord de Floures‘ dining table to the other, just missed her.

pickGood. Enjoyed the story. Found it hard to follow at first because I am used to seeing Death in Paradise on the television and had to think back to the characters in the 1st series. Perfect for fans of the series, which will love reconnecting with the characters from the 1st series.

pickA few days after Squire Roger of Throwleigh dies his five year old son and heir also dies. Was he run over by a horse and cart in a traffic accident or was there a more sinister cause?
The usual twisty fun with a solution I didn't see coming. The author's afterword sounds as if he'd been receiving complaints about how authentic or not his linguistic choices are. I have no complaints on that score, but there are a lot of typos.
