I miss Key West 😂🩷💙🩵
Here‘s my review for this book that I just DNF‘d. I couldn‘t suspend my disbelief with this one. For me, the fake dating situation in this book isn‘t realistic. I chose this book as a mood read for #bookspinbingo. I saw that the sequel is a second chance romance following a different couple but I‘m not interested in reading it.
I started this book last night. I want to read this book because I won the second book in a Goodreads giveaway in 2021. If I like this book then I‘ll probably read the second book. It has 2 tropes: fake dating and insta-love. They just met and they decided to fake date. They‘ve only known each other for 1 day and now, the guy is saying that he‘s attracted to her. I‘m going to keep reading for now but I‘m not liking this book.
I‘m enjoying the virtual (re)visit to the Keys in these pages. Romances aren‘t my jam (got to read this for work), but I‘ll take beaches, water, and Cuban food anytime. 🏝️🌊😋
ISLAND AFFAIR by Priscilla Oliveras - This book just made me smile. Full of fun, family, laughter, and love. A great book to take to the beach.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It wasn‘t amazing but I did enjoy it and liked the characters. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Fake dating in the Florida keys was the best trope as it‘s getting cold here in the Midwest! This book was sweet and funny with deeper moments that made the ending so good. I can‘t believe it took me so long to read it.
Sara shows up to her family vacation wanting to show she‘s got her life together. But her date ditches her and she convinces Luis to be her guy for the week. Luis is on forced vacation from firefighting so decides to help Sara out.
Two strangers. One just leaving work. The other stood up. Somewhere they end up on a family vacation together and sparks fly. Sweet read.
August Book 12/25 #LitsyLove #bookspinbingo
This was cute. It certainly follows the formula, so there are no surprises here, but I really enjoy a well told feel-good story on occasion and this fit the bill. Sara and Luis are both sold characters, and people I'd like to know. Their families are wonderful, too, and felt real, although I think I would feel overwhelmed and oppressed by the enforced closeness of the Navarres. Our MCs were both dealing with personal & family troubles but they ⬇️
When Sara‘s boyfriend is a no-show at the airport, she enlists Luis to play the part.
Latest romance read!
Fun romance set in Key West. A woman is stood up by her boyfriend so she enlists the help of a hot stranger to step in as said boyfriend, all to avoid stressing out her family. Side characters were a bit flat, but I'm guessing that's kinda because this is the first in a new series. Deals with some heavy stuff, like eating disorders and trauma. So fun to read about a "tropical" location right now!
I am a sucker for fake romances😍this was a cute quick read. I‘m happy to see on the cover this will be a series. Unfortunately I‘ll have to wait till April 21.
What the heck am I gonna read next. “ sigh”
Opening day!!!!
@Chrissyreadit thank you SO MUCH for this amazingly fun box!!! I love the road trip theme and everything is perfect!!! Super stoked about all of my books, too.
And thank you for hosting!! Such a fun swap - I'll look for it next year!! Now I'm off to see what ginger chews taste like! 😂
What a fun, bright summer book cover! Thank you to Kensington Publishing sending me this summer read! Thank you to all your staff that worked hard to mail out all of the books! #islandaffairanovel #bookmail #booknerd #alwayslovedbooks
I think everyone would like to escape today‘s climate and head to an Island ,an Island a romance sounds perfect.
I needed a light read, so I picked up this romance that a friend‘s bookstore recommended and it gave me more feelings than I was expecting. Not just romantic feelings, but feelings about cultural differences (the couple is interracial), dealing with trauma, and the expectations our parents do and don‘t put on us. It was excellent and I can‘t wait for the rest of her books in this world — or to visit the Keys!
Trigger warning in the comments.
3.5 stars. Great sense of place, sweet fake-to-real romance, immersive Latin culture, strong family connections.

Growing up I briefly lived in the Keys. The slow pace, days spent in blue water & taste of fresh key lime pie will never leave me. This book had me wanting to book a flight in hopes of finding my new fave book bf, Luis. The author has written the perfect male lead. A sensitive alpha, thoughtful but a little tortured w/a body worthy of being Mr. July in the charity firefighter calendars that are apparently a thing but no one ever tries to sell me.
This escape reality was one I picked out from BookishFirst - I cashed in my points from reviewing and winning some other books - if you aren‘t on there, you should be!

I can‘t wait to read this book!
Windows open. Sun shining. A good book. Whatever day of the week this is, it‘s a glorious one.
Aww, so cute! This is very much in the vein of Helen Hoang or Tessa Bailey‘s books! Smouldering heat without going into graphic detail; a nice burn that leaves it all up to your own imagination. Fun meet cute, both boy and girl have issues, both reasonable adults who work through their issues and help the other work through theirs; love!
