"The perfect winter heart-warmer."--Cathy Kelly, bestselling author of Between Sisters and Secrets of a Happy MarriageBeloved author Felicity Hayes-McCoy returns with an enchanting, cozy new novel, perfect for fans of Jenny Colgan, Nina George, and Nancy Thayer--It's Christmas in Ireland, and when Cassie Fitzgerald arrives from Toronto to visit her grandparents, she learns that it's never too late to come home. The days are turning colder, preparations are under way for the Winter Fest, and everyone is hoping for a little holiday magic on the Finfarran peninsula. And as Cassie Fitzgerald, fresh from Toronto, is about to discover, there's more to the holidays on the west coast of Ireland than mistletoe and mince pies.Enchanted by the small town where her dad was born, Cassie makes friends and joins local librarian Hanna Casey's writing group in Lissbeg Library. But the more she's drawn into the festivities leading up to her first Irish Christmas, the more questions she wants to ask. Why does her sweet-tempered grandmother Pat find it so hard to express her feelings? What's going on between Pat and her miserly husband Ger? What happened in the past between the Fitzgeralds and Hanna's redoubtable mother Mary Casey? And what about Shay: handsome, funny, smart, and intent on making Cassie's stay as exciting as he can. Could he be the one for her?As Christmas Eve approaches, it's Cassie, the outsider, who reminds Lissbeg's locals that love, family, and friendship bring true magic to the season. But will her own, fractured family rediscover the joys of coming home?

After twelve “completed“ chapters, I have decided to DNF this.

It is a shame that this couldn't engage my interests. Had Irish, Christmas, mix POV, and seemed a sweet read. While I loved the setting, I couldn't connect with any of the characters. And it doesn't feel Christmassy enough!

Terrible of me, that I probably would have found this interesting if one of the characters had been of the supernatural kind or there had been a ghost.

This has a lot of characters, and the reader really has to pay attention because the focus jumps around, yet this is interesting...

Andrew65 An interesting total, always tricky when there are a lot of characters. 3w
AnnCrystal @Andrew65 true. Especially if one can't connect with the storyline...📚🤔👍💫. 3w

Twenty pages read! Seems sweet, yet slow going...with only a sprinkle of Christmas mentioned during the first couple of pages...🎄🧐🤔.

This is a family saga book not a holiday romance. There was a lot going on and a lot of characters. The plots I found interesting didn't get much time and the ones I find boring took up a lot of time

I picked this up because of the holiday-theme and it‘s set in Ireland. I love Ireland, so I started reading this a few weeks ago, then put it aside. I read a few more chapters this morning, but I just can‘t. I‘m 1/3 of the way through and nothing has happened. Too many characters, to many potential plot lines, and nothing is happening. So I‘m calling it. DNF

I had insomnia last night and powered through finishing this book. Honestly, I thought it was pretty boring. I had incorrectly assumed it was a romance, when really it was a cozy story set in a rural Irish town. Way too many characters and POV switches, the plot is pretty nonexistent, and I didn‘t realize until about halfway in that it was part of a series. The only Christmasy part was at the very end. I still don‘t understand the title.

Pickpick

Finally started my Christmas reading! This one is definitely a slow burn of a read, and I admit, there are a few story lines that weren‘t really wrapped up. However, I did like how the book tied a lot of loose ends together at the conclusion. I enjoyed reading about the town of Lissbeg and its cast of characters.

Day 3 of #bookadventcalendar is modeled by the fabulous Ozzie-Man. This is another one on my tbr piles although the odds of me getting through them all this year is slim to none. And Christmas seems to be heavily represented by romances and mysteries, at least in my stacks. @LeahBergen

AmberWB I'm reading this one right now---I have about 15 more pages and I SO want to finish it, but keep falling asleep, as 9pm is my only real reading time! It's pretty good. :)

1. Green bean casserole to make and to eat.
2. I‘ve only finished one book this month (tagged book), so by default it‘s the best!
3. My home and those who share it with me. Libraries and bookstores. My friends across town and around the world.

MoonWitch94 Love all of this. I stacked that book! 😘 5y

1. Yes this is a Christmas book, but it‘s not a CHRISTMAS book, if you get my drift. Anyway, the timeline starts in November (as far as I can tell-it‘s a little ambiguous), and I read it in November, so there you go.
2. A former coworker is in town this week and stopped by to say hello.
3. Margarita and portobello quesadilla at the local Mexican restaurant.
4. One
5. On it!

Hoopiefoot This sounds like such a cute book! Adding it to my winter reads TBR list. And I love portobello quesadillas too! (edited) 5y
Susanita @Hoopiefoot I hope you like it! It‘s part of a series, but you can read it on its own. 5y

I‘m recycling my #libraryhaul picture for books I‘m #lookingforwardtoreading this month. Due to poor hold management, I got this earlier than expected. Now that Halloween is in the rear view, I can read a Christmas book, right? #gratefulreads

kspenmoll Of course! After all I saw Christmas decorations etc. in stores before Halloween!!!😱 5y
