Can Jessica play Bruce Patman's game and win? Looks like Jessica's gotten her way again. Fresh from her greatest social triumph being crowned as Sweet Valley High's fall queen, Jessica proceeds to go after Bruce Patman, the richest, most handsome, most eligible and sough-after guy at school. But is Bruce too much for Jessica? Elizabeth notices a big change in her twin once Jessica and Bruce start dating. Suddenly Jessica's following him everywhere, dropping everything just to spend time with him. Elizabeth doesn't trust Bruce one bithe's arrogant, demanding, and way too much of a player. Jessica can usually hold her own against any guy, but this time Elizabeth's afraid her sister may be going too far... Playing with Fire is a Sweet Valley High book from Francine Pascal.

I always enjoy reliving my high school years with Sweet Valley High.

All the troubles that seemed so important then are so well captured in this story.

2✨ Okay I am not the biggest fan of Jessica. She started dating a player who she was madly in love with. Changing herself to suit him was uncharacteristic of her as a character. Then she continues to use others. Still going to keep reading because I like Elizabeth.

#MagicalMay Day 30: Don‘t these book covers give you a sharp pang of #nostalgia? I used to own all the titles in the series, and would even rent some of them out during the summer. What can I say, I was a little entrepreneur back then. I wrote this piece on revisiting SVH in my late 30s: what works and what doesn‘t, here: https://wp.me/pDlzr-9dy

Eggs Great post 💗💗 5y
Palimpsest Sadly, I gave all my Sweet Valley High books to a younger cousin ages ago, which knowing her she probably didn‘t even read. Wish I had them back. 5y
veritysalter Thank you for posting this, you‘ve conjured fond memories of my childhood local library and the great times I had in there. ♥️ 5y

Oooh I am enjoying everyone's posts for #day4 of #augustphotochallenge. The theme for today is #bookishsquads and there sure has been a few unique squads that I would love to be part of. I decided though to pick the squad of Sweet Valley High. I was obsessed with these books as a child and always thought who great it would be to know Jessica and Elizabeth. I borrowed this photo as I don't have these books on my shelves anymore.

Roselyn_Reads Jessica and Elizabeth are the ones who got me into reading. I started in grade school reading Sweet Valley Kids and Sweet Valley Twins and then followed with Sweet Valley High. This is awesome. The memories. 8y
Jellybeanbon @Silent_Whispers come to think about it...me too. I also read the University books and loved all of them. 8y

Roselyn_Reads I never read the university ones. Omg now I want to see if I can find these books and collect them all over again. 8y
wanderlustywriter The first series I was ever obsessed with! A few years ago my mom cleaned out the attic in my childhood home and donated all my Sweet Valley books to the library 😭 I've never been so mad at her 8y
Jellybeanbon @wanderlustywriter nooooooo! That's heartbreaking! Well at least it will provide loads of joy to other readers. 8y
