Yeah. Reread confirms, this is a book that's going to stay with me. I'm glad it's one I own, so I can revisit, probably annually. I think having experienced Tigerman by Nick Harkaway this past year, I have a new scale for 'heart-ripped out' books that affected me emotionally, but even knowing what was coming, this one still got to me. Grief, unshakeable, self-annihilating grief, is the undercurrent throughout the story, 1/?

Raw Shark Texts, been thinking about it since I finished it last April, wanna do it again!
Nick Harkaway: one of, if not the FAVOURITE author, could happily reread any of his books. Will be starting with Gnomon, because it's the one I feel like I know the least.
Probably reread Wayfarers, Monk and Robot, Murderbot series. 1/?

The truly original imaginative elements introduced around concepts, thoughts and the physical world, how books and words are used, was highly entertaining. However, this book is primarily about a man struggling to deal with grief after a great loss. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with ongoing mental health concerns. Ian the Cat, with his multitude of creatively described unimpressed glares, was not harmed in the making of this story. 😼

Another book from my shelves finally read and off my TBR. 😀

Parts of this felt like House of Leaves because of its unique formatting, and other sections reminded me of cheesy old sci-fi movies I watched as a kid. It's definitely a book unlike others, and the story is engaging, although it is weird, but I like weird. 💚

1) New Zealand. I wrote in my school year book 20 years ago that I want to go there someday, but haven't managed it yet. No plans.

2) My son is back at school every second day. He's happy to see his friends, and I'm glad it's quieter in the home office.

Over half way through this and I‘m loving it so far. I still have many many questions running through my mind but hopefully some will get answered!

Starting this one for my #bookclub (another choice was Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, but it's really boring so far). The cover is epic 🌁 and there are some postmodernist peculiarities with the text layout, which I love. The book has been on my TBR for almost 8 years! 😅

Well, this was different.
I gave it a pick for originality, although I‘m not sure all the kinks in the story were resolved or expained.
Still, the idea of an actual shark made of words/thoughts stalking someone to eat their mind was a cool concept.

I read this one awhile back and I still find myself thinking back on it even today, wondering.... what the heck did I read? 😂

Found this to be a great read - gripping and original storyline.

Liking this quite much so far

Another re-read. It‘s been 11 years since I last read this, but I couldn‘t settle on anything from my to-read list. So I decided on a revisit. From my previous rating of the book it looks like I really liked it. Now it‘ll be put to the test. One thing is certain, I really don‘t like this cover. It looks like a cheap crime novel.

I might have a problem... estimated delivery date for all these is not until the middle of June (because China), but I still couldn‘t resist.

It's been a tough week, but all the wonderful people around me have kept me in chocolate hedgehogs, Rice Krispie squares and gummy sharks #notallbad

Quite a good start, but then the book couldn't live up to my expectations.
It is a postmodern novel about loss and language. With a lot of conceptual sharks and a lovestory.
In its form it reminded me a bit of House of Leaves by Danielewsky, but that was much better.
A quick-read, I wanted to know how it would finish, but I was also sure I would be a bit disappointed.

This just might be my favorite book with an #unreliablenarrator #maybookflowers

The Raw Shark Texts was one of the weirdest books I've ever read and I loved it! A man tries to deal with his amnesia while running from a shark villain. #comeoneileen

I don't have much bookish merchandise but most of my tattoos are bookish (including a stack of books on my other forearm). This one's probably my favorite so far. It's the conceptual shark from Steven Hall's book. #riotgrams #bookishtattoos

#tbt. I have trouble remembering details of all the books I've read, but good books leave imprints on my soul. This is one of those. I loved the originality. I remember being haunted by the ending and making a friend read it. We both came away with different interpretations. I love books that speak to people in such different ways. It's also the first adult novel I read that makes art out of words on the page.

I'm a sucker for any book that starts with the protagonist waking up and not knowing who or where he is. From there, Steven Hall goes on to tell a fun, interesting story that plays with concepts and ideas about language itself.
