Middle school is hard, but just imagine how hard it would be if the words people called you showed up on your arms and legs! Welcome to Elyse‘s world.
I LOVED this book! #tdscampread18 #ReadingEmpowers

Words don‘t break bones, but they do break hearts.
A great book that portrays how “words” can leave marks on ones self-esteem. A great read especially for Tween readers
Face out on display yesterday at the bookstore. This is a story I imagine every middle schooler might need to read.
Day 17 of 31: Green Books. Do you have any faves from this #bookpile?
💚💚💚
Btw, who's watching the #Olympics? Last night and this morning, I watched how Zac Efron surprised Simone Biles and the rest of the Final Five. Did you see it? It was such a sweet and adorable moment and I was definitely about to cry because of how giddy and full of joy the girls and Zac were. It was a really cool moment.

I loved this sweet story of Elyse, a girl with CAV who is starting middle school. CAV stands for cognadjivisibilitus, which means the words Elyse hears used to describe her appear on her arms and legs. This magical realism is a beautiful way to tell a story about growing up, figuring out who you are, and being kind to yourself & others. Looking forward to sharing this one with middle-schoolers!

Here's part of my August TBR stack. I took this photo earlier this week at the cabin. Nice to spend a few days on a lake in a forest. 🌲🌲🌲
Great story about the impact of our words on others and in ourselves. Would be great for a book club for older kids/teens or for class read aloud and discussion.
This is the middle grade debut read of the year. Elyse has had a rare skin disorder since childhood which makes the words others call her appear on her body like itchy temporary tattoos. But now she's in middle school, and the names she calls herself are appearing too. #magicalrealism #clientbook
