A light, fluffy romance, exactly what I needed after a tough week. Nothing unexpected & somewhat predictable, but I‘m a sucker for a happy ending.
Book 1 finished & 5 hours logged for #24B4Monday
Yay! End of the month #24B4Monday readathon with 3 awesome hosts! 🎉
My goals are to read 3 books to finish the path on my August Rapid Readers word journey card.
Since it‘s already Friday here, I‘ve started (1.5 hrs down!) and am working on finishing the tagged.
I needed an easy, light read after my first two books of the year and this did the trick. It has emotions, lovers quarrels, parental strife and more predictable romance book content. I do enjoy books written from alternate points of view and I kept waiting for Ellie‘s but never got it. I didn‘t realize it was the third in a series, it didn‘t matter really. I recommended to my mom and may beat another DM book later this year. Book 3 of 2020
These 3 Books are great I love Debbie Macomber. Her books always touch me in one way or another
Uuuuuugh. Even Khristine Hvam couldn't make this good. It went on and on and on. It could have been half the length and maybe with some good editing been interesting. But this? It was interminable. Even established authors need good, strong editors. Geez.
It did make me wonder--how do performers read books like this? Surely she must have been rolling her eyes as much as I was!
Oh man....where do I start?
I really liked the first two books. This one was just sickingly sweet. Lots of eyerolling. I hated the two main characters. Ugggh. I was so disappointed.
⭐⭐
Beth is trying to break away from her controlling mother and moves to Portland, Oregon to be near her aunt and start her life. After a not so good blind date Beth is in an accident & her life takes a dramatic turn. A story of family, friendship, love, and finding strength to make the life you want. Perfect for a day at the beach. This is part of a series but I read it as a stand alone & didn't feel like I was missing anything.
I just dropped salsa on a brand new library book!!! Good thing I'm the director..... What have you had to return with sadness & a bit of embarrassment to a library? When I was a school librarian I had to fess up to the public librarian to dropping a book into the tub😳
Luckily the salsa cleaned up pretty good!!!
Happy Friday!!
Friday night mean squeezing in a few minutes of reading before the family sits down to dinner- homemade pizza & wine!!!
Feeling better. Spent the day reading and watching the Great British Baking Show. And I have my windows open because it is actually warm outside!
This is book 3 of the New Beginnings series. This one has characters from book 2 but could be read as a standalone. Beth moves to Portland, Oregon to get away from her controlling mom. She meets Sam, not her typical guy, but they hit it off but have some roadblocks on the way to love.
Not feeling well today so I plan for some light reading and maybe some movie watching.
Starting this one tonight.
Look who I got to meet.....Debbie Macomber. She is the sweetest, and so funny! Can't wait to start her book.
Jennifer read this entire book with a sappy grin on her face.

3.5 of 5 stars
The underlying premise was good. I enjoyed how the author wrote her main characters as polar opposites; their initial story was endearing. We all know how opposites attract. I even bought into the quickened pace of their head over heels infatuation. What I couldn't accept was the angst, the petulant temper tantrums, the "I love you/I hate you" bs. It quickly grew banal & clichéd. Sweet story at the ❤️ of it but have to stick it out.
We're like Casey Kasem, but with books. A Top 10 March '17 pick! “High school music teacher, Beth, & tattooed auto mechanic, Sam, are set up by friends, but neither sees a relationship developing. Disinterest quickly turns into friendship and then develops into much more. Just as their romantic relationship begins, Beth‘s controlling mother & Sam‘s hidden past threaten to pull them apart. It‘s impossible not to fall in love with her characters.”
Beth Prudhomme is finally taking charge of her life. She moves from Chicago to Portland, Everything seems to be coming together Then tragedy strikes, forcing Beth to reevaluate everything—because sometimes life can be so wrong it‘s right.
