Taking a chance at the library today and buying a mystery pack of books... Exciting! (Had to renew my checkout for pressure because I hadn't gotten a chance to start it)
What started out as a monster story quickly became one about an EVIL corporation. While Evil Corp was dealt with monster never was. Particularly boring, this book featured a cast of uninspiring characters that I couldn't care about. The constant shoehorning of a romantic subplot was terrible. My second book from Mr. Keene I like it no better than the first and do not feel compelled to pursue any of his other writings.

Not a bad story if you like sci-fi/fantasy but it felt like he was trying to cram too many plots into one story. I felt like it would have been better if he had focused on one plot and really dug into it instead of doing multiple ones and having them all be short.
Eh. Parts of it I really enjoyed. The ending felt forced a bit, like it was just time to wrap it up. I didn't realize that the author has such an extensive back catalogue, I'll definitely check some out, hopefully more impressive than this one. Unless you are a fan, I might skip it.

That's it, only action stories for the rest of the summer! Especially if they have covers this beautiful.
Finishing this up to end the #24in48 #readathon. I want to thank everyone who participated and posted this weekend, it was incredible to share my love of reading with so many other bookworms. So much fun and I cannot wait until next time. ❤️❤️ thanks @Litsy
Famous last words: such a vital component of horror. They're often what prompts our participation. And then? The good novels, they shade that participation into some form of complicity. Soon, you're neck deep and sinking: right where the horror wants you to be. Excited to get there with this one.
