Escaping Peril
Escaping Peril | Tui T Sutherland
23 posts | 25 read | 4 to read
Peril has been loyal to Queen Scarlet, who used her fatal firescales to kill countless dragons in the SkyWing arena. Now, Peril is loyal to Clay, the only dragonet who has ever been her friend. So when Scarlet threatens Jade Mountain Academy, Peril sets off to find her former queen, stop her, and save the day, no matter what it takes. There's just one problem: a strangely persistent SeaWing, Turtle, insists on coming along, too. Turtle is worried about his friends, who left to search for Scarlet and haven't returned. Peril is worried that she might accidentally burn Turtle -- or burn him on purpose, for being so annoying -- and frustrated that she keeps saying and doing the wrong things. She can't escape her firescales, and she can't escape her reputation as the deadliest dragon in Pyrrhia. So when she's offered a chance to trade everything for a new life, Peril has to decide who she's really loyal to . . . and whether her own scales might actually be worth saving.

Happy Friday! ❤ I somehow forgot that the newest book in the Wings of Fire series comes put next week! 🎉🐉💕 I'm going to try and catch up by then, but I think it might be a futile effort! Anyone else love this series? It's so cute and fun! Just a breath of fresh air!

I have already found a deep love for Peril and I could always understand her because she‘s such an easy character to dislike, but to me she‘s just misunderstood! One of the deepest books out of the series that I‘ve read so far!

Eggs, toast, orange juice, and Wings of Fire.

Rather than reading, during today's breakfast I watched a Washington Post Live about race and capitalism with Ford Foundation president Darren Walker, so my son offered his breakfast for a breakfast-and-a-book photo.

TheBookAddict I loooove this series! Can‘t wait for the next book to come out! I was the over eager reader who anxiously awaited the release of book 14 for 1 month, after reading the first 13 books in 1 summer, and finished reading it in 1 day. Then I was sad, because I had to wait yet again for the release of the next book. 😔 5y
Librarymouse @TheBookAddict yes it‘s so exciting. Can‘t wait for the next one to come out 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 5y

I loved this one! The sass and hilarious comments from Peril made it my favorite so far in the series. My son enjoyed it as well and he interrupted quite a bit with comments like "no! Don't do it!" which told me he was invested in the characters as well.

Eduardo: “This is the final book in a series. I‘ve already read it, but I‘m reading it again because it‘s exciting. The story is about five dragons and a prophecy. The dragons have unique ways of being brave. I like that. My way of being brave is being smart and having ideas.”

Richryan52 @SubwayBookReview Are you by any chance a Sherlock Holmes fan? 7y
SubwayBookReview I‘m not anymore! I was when I was younger :) Are you? 7y

This book was okay, although I felt that the protagonist was slightly predictable. This novel is through the eyes of Peril, someone who has grown up to be a killer but wants to be a good person (dragon?). One of the characters, Cliff, was adorable, and definitely made the book worth it. Overall, the book was creative, though predictable, and gave me a new angle to the Wings of Fire series.
