April stats!
I read an uncommon number of books by white people last month. I think that's down to my focus on La TBR, which is currently VERY white because I tend to read acquisitions by POCI more quickly. The library helped balance things out.
Alas, I had no new-to-me 5-star reads, but I had an awesome time revisiting THE VAMPIRE LESTAT and I enjoyed some 4-star surprises like SUNSTONE VOL 1 and INTERIM GODDESS OF LOVE.
pickTHIS WAS SO GOOD! Esguerra blends Pinoy mythology, humour, and new adult hijinks into a hell of a fun story about a young woman whose life gets pretty durned complicated when she learns one of her ancestors was a deity. Now the God of the Sun wants her to train as the Goddess of Love, lovelorn teenagers keep falling into her lap, and she's got honest-to-goddess minions. It's snappy and adorable and it'd make an amazing K-Drama (or P-Drama).
So, yeah, this book is awesome and I want to read everything Mina V. Esguerra's published.
Reading my huge backlog of digital freebies is supposed to REDUCE La TBR, not inspire me to buy a zillion other books. I'll eat a couple of rice cakes while I contemplate this dilemma.
Also, I realized I read for almost an hour without turning my stopwatch on. Boo, One-Hour-Ago Me. Booooooo.#readathon
There were empty tables at the teensy McDonald's along the Greenway, so I used my last free coffee voucher on an Americano. It paired well with INTERIM GODDESS OF LOVE, which is super cute so far. #readathon

Last weekend I went through allllllllll my digital freebies and made a checklist for the ones under 200 pages. I plan to read from it during the 24-Hour Readathon later this month.
This two-page spread is just the start of it. I found more than fifty titles (some of them novelettes; not something I'll count on my yearly reading list). It's a sobering legacy from my days as a digital freebies addict.

Girl, no one ever told you about the stranger rule? I get that you're a goddess of sorts but you are sooo not Supergirl or Wonderwoman or Catwoman--- if you get my drift. pickThis was adorable and fun. I really wish Hannah was real so we could be friends, she has the perfect balance between dry humor and sweet (which sort of makes her sound like a wine but 🤔). My only complaint is that it was too short, but luckily j have two more books to look forward to!
